So I have been having a problem with my computer for the past few weeks but have failed in any of my attempts to solve it using spyware/malware/virus scanners, deleting suspicious files, and uninstalling foreign programs that were possibly spyware.
Initially my Mozilla was being hijacked but now it doesn't even load anymore. Several other programs fail to load and so far I have only tried re-installing one of them (Adobe Reader) because I needed it for a school assignment. It did work immediately after the reinstall, but after a reboot (or even idle time), Adobe reader doesn't load again with the following error [Acrobat failed to load it's core DLL]. Over the last week, anytime I have needed to run Reader, I have had to do a quick reinstall but even then the program is unstable and crashes spontaneously. Even my last install of HiJackThis failed to load when I wanted to do a scan for this post here, but a repair of the installation has solved that temporarily.
My Google Chrome browser still loads but my Google searches are re-directed to advertisements ~70% of the time. My internet browser also functions significantly slower than normal. My computer has frozen up a few times during this period requiring a manual reboot-- mostly when I try running numerous programs at once or try running a malware/virus scanner of some sort.
