Hi.

Please try this instead:

  • Navigate to the Avira download page.
  • Under Avira Antivir Personal - Free Antivirus click the Download button (this will load a new page).
  • Click the link to download the free version from Download.com.
  • Click Download Now to download the free version.

Hi

I checked it out , very direct and not confusing, it will take me 3 hours to download, so I will do this Thursday evening when I get home from work, the download box asks if I want to RUN or SAVE, which do I click.
At this point I don't want to make a mistake...lol

Thanks again

You have to save the file somewhere you remember, i.e to your Desktop. Please refer to the recommended procedure below:

Safely change the anti-virus

To safely change the installed anti-virus software, I recommend that you follow this procedure:

  1. Download the installer for the new anti virus.
  2. Disconnect the computer from the internet/network.
  3. Uninstall the following items from Add/Remove programs:
    CA Anti-Virus Plus
    CA Internet Security Suite
  4. Reboot your computer.
  5. Then install the new AV, reboot your computer and immediately update the newly installed software (connect to the internet).

Remember to cancel any automatic renewal of the old anti-virus.

Also refer to the rest of my instructions in my post here

Do not forget to install the service pack when it arrives and then enable automatic updates for Windows!

Good luck and safe surfing. :)
