and said I had a virus!
I had noticed a few small changes over abt 3 days...I suddenly had to resubmit my username and password everywhere I had been 'remembered';
when closing some things, they were disappearing in separate chunks; I can't really remember (I'm sick), there were just odd small things that I began to wonder about, then three evenings back microsoft called...I was throwing up at the time, so the lady said she'd call back. She hasn't (it was friday).

Edit: Microsoft would never make an unsolicited telephone call, and Microsoft would have absolutely no way of knowing your computer is or is not infected. The telephone call you received is part of a scam. You should not give personal information to anyone who makes such an unsolicited call, nor should you permit them to have remote access to your computer. THIS IS A SCAM!!!

I had a look in task manager and had not remembered seeing spoolsv.exe before...I haven't had the printer turned on for weeks??

Well I did think it was very odd...
I am inexperienced, and thought maybe it was some part of the SP3 ramped up security stuff they were banging on about on their site, that had been picked up by them somehow during an update...
I did not give her any information at all, due only to luck (I was sick!). She said she'd call back, but didn't.
I can't do the remote access, as I am on dial-up (electricity was off for 6 hours yesterday for line upgrade....ADSL2 (Turbo, no less!!) available from today according to Telstra, who have only phoned thrice this week to let me know!!
