Hi and welcome to Malware Removal Forums, sorry for the delay in answering your request for help the forum is really busy.
My name is Cypher, and I will be helping you with your malware problems.
If you no longer require help i would be grateful if you would let me know.

Before we start please note the following important guidelines.
  • The instructions being given are for YOUR computer and system only!.
Using these instructions on a different computer, can damage that computer and possibly make it inoperable!
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to ask.
  • Only post your problem at One help site. Applying fixes from multiple help sites can cause problems.
  • Only reply to this thread do not start another, Please continue responding until I give you the "All Clean"
Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans whilst I am helping you.
  • Please DO NOT install any other software (or hardware) during the cleaning process.
  • Print each set of instructions... if possible...your Internet connection will not be available during some fix processes.
  • Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
  • The logs from the tools we use can take some time to research so please be patient.

Note: If you haven't done so already, please read this topic ALL USERS OF THIS FORUM MUST READ THIS FIRST where the conditions for receiving help here are explained.
Please be aware that removing Malware is a potentially hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. However it is impossible for me to foresee all interactions that may happen between the software on your computer and those we'll use to clear you of infection, and I cannot guarantee the safety of your system. It is possible that we might encounter situations where the only recourse is to re-format and re-install your operating system, or to necessitate you taking your computer to a repair shop.

Because of this, I advise you to backup any personal files and folders before you start.

Remove P2P Programs

  • I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Person to Person) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

    LimeWire

  • Please read the Guidelines for P2P Programs where we explain why it's not a good idea to have them.
  • Note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.
  • Click on start
  • Then Run
  • In the open text entry box please copy/paste appwiz.cpl Then click enter.
  • Press the "Remove" or "Change/Remove"...button to uninstall the programs listed above (in red) and any other P2P you have installed NOW.
  • Take care when answering any questions posed by an uninstaller. Some questions may be worded to deceive you into keeping the program.

Next.

Please post an Uninstall list.

  • Open HijackThis.
  • Click on the Open the Misc Tools section button.
  • Look under System tools.
  • Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
  • Click on the Save list... button.
  • It will prompt you to save. Save this log in a convenient location. By default it's named uninstall_list.txt.
  • Notepad will open. Please post this log in your next reply.

Next.

Run CKScanner

  • Please download CKScanner from Here
  • Important: - Save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click CKScanner.exe and click Search For Files.
  • After a very short time, when the cursor hourglass disappears, click Save List To File.
  • A message box will verify the file saved.
  • Double-click the CKFiles.txt icon on your desktop and copy/paste the contents in your next reply.

Logs/Information to Post in your Next Reply

  • Uninstall list.
  • CKFiles.txt.
  • Please give me an update on your computers performance.

Hi sean.

No anti-virus

Looking over your log, it seems you don't have any evidence of an anti-virus software.

Anti-virus software are programs that detect, cleanse, and erase harmful virus files on a computer, Web server, or network. Unchecked, virus files can unintentionally be forwarded to others, including trading partners and thereby spreading infection. Because new viruses regularly emerge, anti-virus software should be updated frequently. Anti-virus software can scan the computer memory and disk drives for malicious code. They can alert the user if a virus is present, and will clean, delete (or quarantine) infected files or directories. Please download a free anti-virus software from one these excellent vendors.

Note: You should run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and results in program conflicts and false virus alerts.

Next.

hi thanks again for the prompt response....

first thing, i have vipre antivirus premium running on my computer? is there a problem that it didn't show up on the uninstall list? it says its running, i actually uninstalled it and re-installed it to see if that would make a difference in the log but it didn't, its still not listed.

i followed all of the directions and have both logs, as instructed i will only list the info.txt log here

info.txt logfile of random's system information tool 1.08 2010-08-22 23:13:11

Hi tigerstale.
You're logs look clean so lets run another scan to be sure.

Your Java is out of date.

It can be updated by the Java control panel
  • click on Start > Control Panel (Classic View) > Java (looks like a coffee cup) > Update Tab > Update Now.
  • An update should begin.
  • Just follow the prompts.

Next.

Run ATF Cleaner again it should still be on your desktop.

Next.

Disable you're Antivirus so it won't interfere with the below scan.

Next.

Kaspersky Online Scan

You can use either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox for this scan.

Note: If you are using Windows Vista, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select 'Run as administrator' to perform this scan.

  • Hold down Control then click on the following link to open a new window to Kaspersky Online Scan
  • Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  • It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  • When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  • Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
    • Archives
  • Click on My Computer under Scan. * This will take a while. Please be patient *.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  • You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  • Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  • Please post this log in your next reply.

This online tutorial will help explain how to use the aforementioned online scan.

Logs/Information to Post in your Next Reply

  • Kaspersky log.
  • Please give me an update on your computers performance.

Hi.
i cannot get java to update ..... i press update and nothing happens...

Try this.

Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE).

Please download from HERE
  • Find Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 21.
  • Click the Download JRE button to the right.
  • Choose the correct Platform and Multi-language. Next, check the box that says I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement.
  • Click the Continue button.
  • Click on the filename under Windows Offline Installation and save it to your desktop.
  • Close all active windows.
  • Install the program.
when i tried the kaspersky scan it took over 1 hour and i cancelled it

This scan can take some time as i advised you about in the instructions for running the KAS scan.
Click on My Computer under Scan. * This will take a while. Please be patient *.

Run the Kaspersky Online Scan again and be patient until it finishes.

thanks, i downloaded the java ... when i went back to check control panel java, it still didn't update there? ..

anyway, when i went to do the kaspersky scan, i got a warning -security pop up that states "applications digital signature has an error. do you want to run application?" it says at the bottom that the trusted certificate has expired

then another pop up comes that is titled "the page at http://www.kaspersky.com says launch of java application is interrupted. please establish an uninterrupted internet connection for work with this program.

now yesterday, i went ahead and just clicked run program and thats when the downloading of the kb's was so slow, i'm talking 1-3 kb's at a time, and there are i believe 94,000 to go ... thats why i killed it... i didn't even get to running the scan ...

also, at this time i keep getting an adobe reader update at the lower right of my computer asking me to install update, should i do that?

thanks again,

Hi sean.
First you can go ahead and instal the adobe reader update.
As you are having trouble with the KAS scan we will try another one.
Be sure to disable you're AV before running the scan.

ESET online scannner

Note: You can use either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox for this scan.

Note: If you are using Windows Vista, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select 'Run as administrator' to perform this scan.

  • Hold down Control then click on the following link to open a new window to ESET online scannner
  • Then click on: Image
Note: If using Mozilla Firefox you will need to download esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe when prompted then double click on it to install.
All of the below instructions are compatible with either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox.
  • Select the option YES, I accept the Terms of Use then click on: Image
  • When prompted allow the Add-On/Active X to install.
  • Make sure that the option Remove found threats is NOT checked, and the option Scan archives is checked.
  • Now click on Advanced Settings and select the following:
    • Scan for potentially unwanted applications
    • Scan for potentially unsafe applications
    • Enable Anti-Stealth Technology
  • Now click on: Image
  • The virus signature database... will begin to download. Be patient this make take some time depending on the speed of your Internet Connection.
  • When completed the Online Scan will begin automatically.
  • Do not touch either the Mouse or keyboard during the scan otherwise it may stall.
  • When completed select Uninstall application on close if you so wish, make sure you copy the logfile first!
  • Now click on: Image
  • Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\ESET\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt.
  • Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic.
