I ran various antivirus software over the past few days, and each time I re-start my computer, the virus seems to re-emerge. Also a rogue antivirus program keeps popping up on re-start and prompts me to activate the software while doing a 'scan'. I believe its called antivirus antipro. My system has slowed considerably, although I'm not sure if this is related.

Thank you so much for your help!

Re: Please help analyzing this hijack this log file

Unread postby DFW » August 6th, 2010, 5:00 pm

Please note that all instructions given are customised for this computer only, the tools used may cause damage if used on a computer with different infections.
If you think you have similar problems, please post a log in the HJT forum and wait for help.

Hi dazed77 and welcome..

I'm DFW and I am going to try and help you with your Malware problem. Please observe the following points and rules while we work:

  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine!.
  • The clean up process can take time. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Refrain from running self fixes as this will hinder the malware removal process.
  • It may prove beneficial if you print of the following instructions or save them to notepad as I post them.
  • Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
  • Some of the Logs we ask for can take some time to Analise, so please be patient.

Before we start:
Please be aware that removing Malware is a potentially hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. However it is impossible for me to foresee all interactions that may happen between the software on your computer and those we'll use to clear you of infection, and I cannot guarantee the safety of your system. It is possible that we might encounter situations where the only recourse is to re-format and re-install your operating system, or to necessitate you taking your computer to a repair shop.
Because of this, I advise you to backup any personal files and folders before you start.

You said that you have ran some scans, I see that you have Malwarebytes Antimalware installed.
If you have not ran a scan please update and run a scan now,
However if you have already ran scans with Malwarebytes please post the log or logs for the last few days,
both instructions for each options are below, use the one that you need.

Option 1
Already ran Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, if so please post the log/s as below

Open Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Click on the Logs tab
Now click on the first scan Log, Click open
Repeat for any others up to the today
Please copy and paste into your next reply

Option 2

  • Click on the update tab, If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Next select the scan tab, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:

Unfortunately, I could not find a log file, but I have the history:

-trojanwin32:fakespypro 8/3/10 9:55am - quarantined
-trojandownloader:js/renos 8/2/10 1:55pm - removed

-trojandownloader:js/renos 7/31 4:45pm - removed

The rest for the month of July are related to java and were removed.

3) Ad aware - This program is not allowing me to see anything (maybe because I have the free edition?). I tried to export the detailed log to notepad, but not showing anything
However, since my last scan on 8/3 (couldn't get the time, but it was the last scan I performed) it appears as though the problem has been solved. The last web update was on 8/6.

This is what I have tried to date, and of course Hijack this.

Thank you. I appreciate your feedback.

Ok, I think we just better make sure, run rsit as in my last post and post both logs, hopefully it's gone, but the infection is still present in the HijackThis you posted
on the 6th, we also need to make sure that was the only infection you had, as usually these infections sometimes brings some other infections along with it.

Please post back both rsit logs

Hi dazed77

Ok, As I thought, let's carry on.

Download and Run ComboFix (by sUBs)
Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:

Download ComboFix from here to your Desktop.

For more information about Combofix please see here.

Close all programs.

  • You must download it to and run it from your Desktop
  • Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.
For instructions on how to disable your security programs, please see this topic below
How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs
  • Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.
Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
  • When finished, it will produce a log. Please save that log to post in your next reply
  • Re-enable all the programs that were disabled during the running of ComboFix..
A word of warning: Neither I nor sUBs are responsible for any damage you may have caused your machine by running ComboFix on your own.
This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use. ComboFix SHOULD NOT be used unless requested by a forum helper

Hi dazed77

Do you have the Windows installation CD ?, or is youur system a OEM system like dell/hp which came with a recovery Partion or disk,
We may have to patch replace one of your windows files with combofix, unfortunately, Combofix was unable to locate one

Next

Run Combofix Script
Stop all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.
For instructions on how to disable your security programs, please see this topic below
How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

  • Now please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below:

    Code: Select all
    DirLook::
    c:\documents and settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data\klusnhjkv

    DDS::
    uInternet Settings,ProxyServer = http=127.0.0.1:6522

  • Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.

    Image

  • Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
  • ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Once combofix has rebooted your system, we nee to run rsit again but this time, go to start, Run, and copy and paste the line below into the run box, then click ok.
This will give you two logs, please post into your next reply.

Code: Select all
"%userprofile%\desktop\rsit.exe" /info

When completed the above, please post back the following in the order asked for:

Content of ComboFix.txt log
Both RSIT Logs
Information on Windows installation CD

Hi DFW,

Unfortunately, this is my sister's computer.. She loaned it to me until I purchase another. I will ask her to bring the cd's with her when she is here next (which should be in a day or two).
Should I wait for those cd's before I proceed with the above actions?

Thank you..

Run with the fix, we may or not need the disk yet, we see how it goes.

Due to lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
