Hey guys, a brief description of my problems are: Tabs popping up with advertisements on any web browser currently open occasionally. And redirection from search engine clicks to sites with advertisements instead of what I clicked on. Other issue is whenever I try to open programs that have to do with removing malware and a few other select programs, it will often close the program immediately upon opening and says "cannot open (insert file name here) file is infected!" Then asks "Do you want to activate your anti virus software?" with a yes or no button.

here's the unstall log first.

Hi and welcome to the MR forums. :)

I'm melboy and I am going to try to help you with your problem. Please take note of the following:

  1. I will be working on your Malware issues this may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.
  2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  3. If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to ask.
  4. Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans whilst I am helping you.
  5. It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  6. Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
  7. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

NOTE: Please take time to read the Malware Removal Forum Guidelines and Rules where the conditions for receiving help at this forum are explained.

IMPORTANT: Please be aware that removing Malware is a potentially hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. However it is impossible for me to foresee all interactions that may happen between the software on your computer and those we'll use to clear you of infection, and I cannot guarantee the safety of your system. It is possible that we might encounter situations where the only recourse is to re-format and re-install your operating system, or to necessitate you taking your computer to a repair shop.

Because of this, I advise you to backup any personal files and folders before you start.

No Reply Within 3 Days Will Result In Your Topic Being Closed!! If you need more time, please inform me.

============================================================

Rkill

Please download Rkill from one of the following links and save to your Desktop:

One, Two, Three or Four

  • Double click on Rkill.
  • A command window will open then disappear upon completion. This is normal, as is your desktop temporarily disappearing. Do not be alarmed.
  • Notepad will open, please post the contents in your next reply. (The log can also be found at C:\Rkill.txt)
  • Please leave Rkill on the Desktop until otherwise advised.
Note: If you recieve a message that rkill is an infection, do not be concerned. This message is just a fake warning given by rogue malware when it terminates programs that may potentially remove it.
If you encounter infections that give a fake warning and close Rkill, a trick is to leave the fake warning on the screen and then run Rkill again. By not closing the fake warning, this typically will allow you to bypass the malware trying to protect itself so that rkill can run and terminate the rogue processes.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM)

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform Quick scan, then click on Scan
  • When done, you will be prompted. Click OK. If Items are found, then click on Show Results
  • Check all items then click on Remove Selected
  • After it has removed the items, Notepad will open. Please post this log in your next reply.

The log can also be found here:
    1. C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt
    2. Or via the Logs tab when the application is started.

Note: MBAM may ask to reboot your computer so it can continue with the removal process, please do so immediately.
Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

DDS

Please disable any anti-malware program that will block scripts from running before running DDS.

Please download DDS from one of the links below and save it to your desktop:

Link1
Link2
Link3

Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool. A command window will appear, this is normal.

Image
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

Please copy & paste the contents of :
  • DDS.txt
  • Attach.txt
And post them in your next reply.

DeFogger

Download DeFogger from here and save it to your desktop.

Double click Defogger.exe to run the tool.
  • The application window will appear
  • Click the Disable button to disable your CD Emulation drivers
  • Click Yes to continue
  • A 'Finished!' message will appear
  • Click OK
  • DeFogger will now ask to reboot the machine - click OK
IMPORTANT! If you receive an error message while running DeFogger, please post the log defogger_disable which will appear on your desktop.

Gmer

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here.

  • Close all open programs and temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before following the steps below.
  • If you need help to disable your protection programs see here.

Here is all the logs you requested, minus one. I could not obtain a Gmer log. Every time I tried to run the program I would end up getting a BSOD.

This log file is located at C:\rkill.log.
Please post this only if requested to by the person helping you.
Otherwise you can close this log when you wish.

Hi

As per my previous instructions for running GMER to Uncheck:

  • IAT/EAT
  • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
  • Show All (don't miss this one)

Also Uncheck:

  • Devices

See if that enables you to run GMER successfully. If it still fails, try to run it in safe mode:.

Booting into Safe Mode safely
