You have serveral virus's - have you followed the adice in this post :-

http://www.malwareremoval.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=39

You should run at least two of those online AV scanners.

BTW - some of those visus's are capable of providing access to your computer from a remote hacker - do not use this computer for any banking or shopping type activities, if you are able to, use another computer to get all passwords you use changed.

Also run the RBOT removal tool from here :-
http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledge ... /2084.html

Post back with a new HJT log after doing that please.

Some questions :-

Windows Media Player is running when you have done these HJT logs, but does not show as a program being started with the machine - are you starting this after the system boots up, before running HJT, if you are please do not, I need to see a virgin machine from bootup when you give me a HJT log. If not, it might be an infected version of the file.

You are running VNC - please confirm that it is being run with your knowledge.

============

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Press Control-Alt-Del to enter the Task Manager.
Click on the Processes tab and end the following processes:

C:\Program Files\outlook\outlook.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlog.exe
C:\windows\winsysban8.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows\services32.exe

Exit the Task Manager when finished.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [outlook] C:\Program Files\outlook\outlook.exe /auto
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winlog] winlog.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winsysupd] C:\windows\winsysupd8.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [gimmygames] C:\windows\gimmygames.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [winsysban] C:\windows\winsysban8.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [winlog] winlog.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [services32] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows\mc-110-12-0000140.exe

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

C:\Program Files\outlook\outlook.exe
(tell what else is in this folder please.)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlog.exe
C:\windows\winsysban8.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows\services32.exe
C:\windows\winsysupd8.exe
C:\windows\gimmygames.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows\mc-110-12-0000140.exe

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.
Please let me know tthe answer to those two questions also.

Re-partition neccessary?

Unread postby alexgray104 » February 13th, 2006, 12:01 pm

Thanks very much for your help so far Chris, but this is beginning to puzzle me. I cannot get into Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+alt+delete and I am an administrator and have no trouble before so I do not know what is going on. Would it be any easier/thourough to delete the OS and delete the partition, reformat and reinstall MCE??

edit: BTW I only have one partition on my small 40gig which is the on I am working on. And, by VNC you mean the controlling thing, I didn't even know it was on here

Instead of taskmanager - in HJT, config, misc tools is a process manager - use that instead.

That is an option for you to consider.

Some points for you.

1.
A RAT - remote access Trojan - has been active on your computer.
It is the equivalent of giving someone access to the keyboard while this machine has been online.

2.
The use of the computer.
If you normally only use it for games - you are in some ways at less of a risk, than if you use it regularly for banking and shopping.

Yours has not passed the stage of being repaired, only you know if you would be willing to trust the system after it has been cleaned rather than a reinstall.

This question has been asked of our experts - some would clean - but some would not (except as a learning task) they would reformat if a bad trojan or rootkit (you do not seem to have one of those) was on thier system.

Let me know what you wish to do, but I am in the UK - going home from work in an hour and probably out most of this evening.

You could if you have the time - check out the link to the University at the top of the forum.

Regarding secure - yes it would be safer overall to reinstall. Particularly as it seems you use it for banking etc.

Check out our public library - computer safety online article for some safety hints.

Also get a download of SP2 and a firewall and AV software - before doing the reformat - install those offline before going back on the internet, even for other updates.
