Please note that all instructions given are customised for this computer only, the tools used may cause damage if used on a computer with different infections.

If you think you have similar problems, please post a log in the HJT forum and wait for help.

Please take time to read the Malware Removal Forum Guidelines and Rules where the conditions for receiving help at this forum are explained.

Hi bignickm and welcome to Malware Removal. :)

I'm Dakeyras and I am going to try to assist you with your problem. Please take note of the below:

  • I will start working on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine!
  • The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Refrain from running self fixes as this will hinder the malware removal process.
  • It may prove beneficial if you print of the following instructions or save them to notepad as I post them.
  • Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.

I cant install programs that I have downloaded. An example would be adobe reader 9.30 or widows installer. when I try to install programs I get a message that says "program name" encountered a problem and needs to close. Please Help.
This may not be a malware related issuie and may be due to a recent corrupted software application installed for example, though off course I will not rule out malware as the culprit.

Question:

Have you installed any new software or not prior to the current problems?

Scan with RSIT:

  • Please download Random's System Information Tool by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
Make sure that RSIT.exe is on the your Desktop before running the application!
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open:
    • log.txt will be opened maximized.
    • info.txt will be opened minimized.
  • Please post the contents of both log.txt and info.txt.

Note: Both logs can also be located within this folder rsit at the root of your installed Hard-Drive. EG: C:\rsit

When completed the above, please post back the following in the order asked for:

  • How is your computer performing now, any further symptoms and or problems encountered?
  • Answer to my question.
  • Both RSIT logs. <-- Post them individually please, IE: one Log per post/reply.

Re: Cant install any downloaded programs

Unread postby Dakeyras » April 26th, 2010, 3:52 pm

Hi,

My computer is still performing the same way.
I do not remember installing any new software before having these ploblems.
OK and thanks for the update.

Next:

  • Please download this tool from Microsoft.
  • Double click on MGADiag.exe to run it.
  • Click Continue.
  • The program will run. It takes a while to finish the diagnosis, please be patient.
  • Once done, click on Copy.
  • Open Notepad and paste the contents in. Save this file and post it in your next reply.

CKScanner:

  • Please download CKScanner from here to your Desktop.
Make sure that CKScanner.exe is on the your Desktop before running the application!
  • Double-click on CKScanner.exe and click Search For Files.
  • After a very short time, when the cursor hourglass disappears, click Save List To File.
  • A message box will verify the file saved
  • Double-click on the CKFiles.txt icon on your Desktop and copy/paste the contents in your next reply.

Here are the responses I got when I tried to run these 2 applications:

Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic tool has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

and

CKScanner has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi,

The problems being currently experiencing are probably due to either a specific software and or hardware fault and this is not my area of expertise nor this forums as we provide Anti-Malware support only.

Also it appears you have a illegal licensing bypassing application installed namely:-

NOD32 FiX v2.1

This also leads myself to believe the actual NOD32 antivirus system in use is not legal either. If I may bring your attention to this portion of the forums policy:-
This forum does not support the use of stolen software, nor will it "aid and abet" in its use. If your helper detects the presence of cracked software on your computer, you will be asked to remove it at once.
Also you have installed:-

Registry Mechanic 6.0

The use of this may have compounded the issues and or caused them as these types of applications do more harm than actually any good.

Anyway since you are having problems running the scans I have requested and therefore I cannot review the logs I need. At this time I will have to withdraw my assistance on the grounds you are using illegal software and I have no way at this time to verify if any other illegal software is installed and or the operating system itself is not a genuine Microsoft product.

This topic is now closed.
