Trojan horse SHeur3.DBG

Unread postby Dougal » March 14th, 2010, 7:43 am

Hi there,

Last night I made contact with a friend through a video call using Skype. Once the call ended I went to use Internet
Explorer and found that the browser wasn't functioning as it normally would. It was failing to open websites
and closed a couple of times while trying to open them. The iGoogle webpage that had been set up had also reverted
back to the standard Google website. I assumed that Skype may have upset Internet Explorer as this was only the
second time I had used it. However when I was browsing the internet today AVG's Resident Shield popped up a red alert
asking me whether I should remove a Trojan Horse and to perform a scan. I did the scan and then found that no tracking
cookies were detected which turned out to be because most of the cookies in Internet Explorer had gone. After this
I did a more thorough scan with AVG (scanned inside archives) with no threats detected. Later on in the day while the
computer was sitting idle with no screensaver the AVG Resident Shield picked up the same Trojan Horse but in a
different area of the computer. Both viruses are in the vault and here are their details:

Trojan horse SHeur3.DBG C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories\svchost.exe
Trojan horse SHeur3.DBG C:\System Volume Information\_restore{DC206A7E-AC67-4C3F-AC42-580132BE718D}\RP623\A0100016.exe

I do not know whether the computer is clean yet and whether the virus came through Skype but would appreciate your help.

Thankyou.
Dougal

Unread postby Katana » March 17th, 2010, 5:40 am

Please note that all instructions given are customised for this computer only,
the tools used may cause damage if used on a computer with different infections.

If you think you have similar problems, please post a log in the HJT forum and wait for help.

Hello and welcome to the forums

My name is Katana and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.

  4. Failure to reply within 5 days will result in the topic being closed.
  5. Please continue to respond until I give you the "All Clear"
(Just because you can't see a problem doesn't mean it isn't there)
If you can do those few things, everything should go smoothly Image

Some of the logs I request will be quite large, You may need to split them over a couple of replies.
