I seem to have caught a virus which If I believe the on screen details is called Nugel.E. Symptoms - on start up I get a 'windws security alert' ith the windows 'green shield in the bottom right of the screen. This then progressively develops with 'windows security alert (grey box, blue banner ad red button with cross). This invites me to run AV programme. Then get an infiltaration Alert agin looking like a MS pane but not quite right here I get infothat it is either Bankerfox A or Nugel - changes fro start up to start up. Then get an auto start to an internet page which says it is http://livesoftrock.microsoft.com/block.php?r=54.11.
Then get various software Ads and a system Av Scan appears to start. Then get a never ending series of alerts in the botom right of screen - MS Red Shields just running one after another.
If I try and ope any prgramm I get a Security Warning 'Application acnnot be started. The fie XXXXX.exe is infected. Do you want to run AV softeware now. (Yes/No buttons) if selected the box pps up again.
HAve a Dell Optiplex, with Windows XP Home SP 3, IE8, Windows Security installed ESET Smart Security 4, virus database updated this moning on start up
Ran a virus scan which didnot findany issues or files - please help.
The PC will start in safe mode but is unusable otherwise, am sending this from an old laptop and will have to try and transfeer files between the 2 machines.

Look forward to your help David

By posting just a description of your problems it is likely that your topic will be passed by and you will not receive the help you're looking for.

We need to know what's running on your computer so that we can give you appropriate instructions.

May I draw your attention to THIS topic, which you should have read, and which tells you what we need you to post so that we can help you.

This thread will now be closed.

If you still need help, please start a new thread with:-
  • A HijackThis log.
  • An Uninstall list.
  • Details of the problems you're experiencing.

If for any reason you can't run HijackThis, please let us know in your post.
