My kids' computer is messed up

The computer that my kids use is really messed up. It obviously has some terrible malware on it, but I don’t know what it is or how to get it off. None of the icons on the desktop work and the hard drive shows that it’s full even though we tried deleting files off of it to make space.

Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

On Friday I received an automated email from Malware University that indicated that I had received a reply to my original post above. Unfortunately, when I followed the link to the board to read the reply, I received a message indicating that I don't have authorization to read that board. I tried simply logging into the Malware U forum and reading the post there, but the board doesn't show that anyone has replied to my original post.

Now I don't know if I actually received a message from the Malware U techs or if it was some kind of mistake. I don't see a reply post on the board, but I don't know if that's because I'm not authorized to see it(?). I just wanted to make sure that my log isn't deleted because I didn't respond to the post. If there's something I'm doing wrong that isn't allowing me to read the reply from Malware U, please let me know.

The reply to your original post may have been one that was posted by an unauthorized individual not permitted to post responses to logs on this site. Therefore, it would not have been available for your viewing. Unfortunately, because you've added on to this topic, it will have to be closed and you will need to start a new topic.

Due to adding on to your topic with your second post it is highly unlikely that you would have received a response. Our helpers are looking for topics with zero responses. When you post replies to your own topic, it no longer has zero responses, and so it appears that you have received help when in fact, you have not.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Malware Removal forum and wait for assistance. Please do not run additional programs and/or post additional logs. Just your HijackThis log to start with is adequate. Your helper will ask for additional logs as needed. DO NOT reply to your own topic until you have received a response from a helper. Be patient. There are others who have been waiting longer than you, so do not expect an immediate reply.
