Hi Everyone. I am new to this. I am trying to help a friend who's computer has been attacked by malware to the point that I can't seem to get it back. He is using an Emachine running windows XP home. He got that antivirus 2010 that keeps popping up and halting everything. Now it takes away all of his desktop icons and I can't remove it. He had AGV or AVG virus protection on it but it obviously didn't work. Can anyone help me help him. He is computer illiterate and I only know modestly a little more than an idiot. I need help and I need it fast. Please, if anyone can help me as simply as possible, I would greatly appreciate it.
