My brother first noticed when our anti virus software, Avira, identified a few threats. he first told Avira to deny access but as the warning messages kept popping up in the end he choose to delete them instead. It then turned out that the computer had somehow turned its firewall off- definitely neither myself or my brother did this intentionally. I turned the firewall back on, tried to restart the computer- which took ages and in the end I had to reboot in safe mode and then tried running an avira virus scan, which again took ages and the computer foroze before it had finished. Since then the computer has crashed several times, once with a blue screen, everything runs very slowly and internet crashes intermitently. One thing that reminded me of a previous virus we had on this computer was that I seem to be unable to update programs, whether firefox, avira or malwarebytes, the connection fails.
