When I do a search using Google or MSN I get redirected

Unread postby peterb4725 » December 5th, 2009, 12:32 am

I run IE and keep up with the latest updates. Since yesterday, when I run a search using either Google or MSN, the results come back looking just a "little bit different" than it should look. If I select a link, it either shoots me to a random site, ususally something about shopping and such. I have Trend Micro as my virus protection and I have run a full system scan that came back clean, and most times, Trends blocks the site and posts a msg like the one below:
********************************************
Website blocked by Trend Micro Internet Security

Opening this website may put your security at risk
Trend Micro has not yet evaluated this website

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The website you wanted to see might transmit malicious software to your computer, or has done that before to someone else. It may also show signs of involvement in online scams or fraud.

Because you have set your Protection Against Web Threats to "High," all websites not yet checked by Trend Micro have been blocked for your protection.

Re: When I do a search using Google or MSN I get redirected

Unread postby xixo_12 » December 16th, 2009, 8:17 am

Hi,

Information.
I have examined your log, and I believe this to be a computer used for business, either personal or corporate.
If I could point you in the direction of our rules, which state under Posting for help for business machine:
Computers used in a business environment often have policies and other modifications made to them. It is impossible for us to differentiate these from ones that have been made by an infection, so in removing what we think is an infection, we may compromise the business set up of your computer.

The scans we run often reveal information that most businesses would not want exposed in an open forum, and there are other legal constraints and ramifications involved with business machines that we are not equipped or trained to deal with.

Please Click for further explanation!

***Reminder : If you ask for help and unknown to us while it's involves a business computer, you need to understand that any damages resulting from our advices are YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

If this is indeed a business computer:
  • If it is a corporate computer, it is suggested that you take this issue to your IT department.
  • If this is a personal computer used for business (personal or corporate), it is suggested that you take this issue to your IT department, or your local PC repair store.
  • Please let me know you have read this so that the topic can be closed. I am sorry I can not be of further assistance.

Thank you for your understanding.

No---this is MY computer and I am the owner and sole propriater of my company. It is NOT a business computer. I read your forum rules before I started this...I know about that rule. It does not apply. If you need to send this on to your Mentor/Teacher, I understand. I have diigently followed your requests to the letter. I do not want this closed.

As this issue involves either a company owned machine or a machine that is used for business purposes, it falls outside the scope of this forum.

Therefore, this topic is now closed.
