Firefox keeps getting redirected- Help :(

Unread postby Snake3190 » November 15th, 2009, 3:05 pm

[Old log before edits has been saved, just mention if it is required.]

My Firefox gets redirected every few minutes or so to what seems like commercial advertisements such as Dish network, movie sites, etc. Once so far ive been redirected to a site telling me i needed to install their male ware product to save my system (which of course I didn't install). Ive run scans on both AVG, which found Trojan Horse Generic15.PGR but the problem continues to occur. Avast! found something as well, but the problem pursues. I uninstalled Avast! after reading having multiple anti-viruses are detrimental to the system.

EDIT: Ive searched through my own Hijackthis info, found Yefanopa.dll and liwomajo.dll to apparently be known malware files. Hijackthis says they work with system start up and shut down so i wont turn off my computer, Idk if this is helpful or not, i dont want to remove these files without some sort of confirmation from someone more computer literate.

EDIT2: I use a router by the way, and I've checked my system32 and couldnt find either of those .dll's so I'm not exactly sure what i should do =/

EDIT3: Ran Malewarebytes, found 5 things, i removed them all. rebooted my computer, still getting redirected albeit is seems to be happening much slower. Doing an updated Hijackthis log atm.
Yefanopa.dll and liwomajo.dll are still there.

EDIT4: Ran Super-Antispyware found 1 trojan and 145 cookies. Put em all in quarantine, still getting redirected, again even slower now.
Posting new Hijackthis log

Hi,
A word of reminder. ;)
Refrain from running self fixes as this will hinder the malware removal process.

First at all,
Advices.
===============================

Viewpoint.
  • Though not exactly classed as malware they do have some undersirible characteristics.
  • However there is no point to uninstalling any of them, through update of AIM/AOL will install viewpoint automatically.
  • Isn't that nice of AOL and their applications.

SUPERAntiSpyware.
CAUTION: SuperAntiSpyware comes with a utility called Bootsafe
  • Do not for any reason to use it, if used on an infected computer it could render it UNBOOTABLE.

Punkbuster.
  • Punkbuster can take control over various aspects of your computer, and some gaming tools not unlike Punkbuster also hinder their removals.
  • By the definition we handle here, Punkbuster is actual SPYWARE. Therefore, I now ask you to choose from the options below:
    1. Either we try to leave Punkbuster alone but there is NO guarantee a spyware component doesn't 'accidentally' get taken out; so Punkbuster might break.
This will break your ability to play games using Punkbuster enabled servers.
    2. We can just remove Punkbuster. You can reinstall it afterwards if you wish, but please keep in mind that it is SPYWARE.
    3. Another option is to not clean this computer at all. This ensures Punkbuster will continue to function.

Please let me know what you would like to do after reading my advices.

My apologies, my only reason for doing so was because it was hindering my ability to use my desktop efficiently, i feared it wouldnt allow me to reach it so i would be forced to reformat. The only thing i did was take it off my startup and malewarebytes found it anyway. Sadly Malewarebytes and Superantispyware only hinder the spyware, its still hiding somewhere (and dont worry im too nervous to reboot with it at all haha.)

I would like to inform you I have tried to boot up in safemode and i get blue screens in this attempt.

I would be fine with uninstalling punkbuster i no longer use the program as of now. How would you recommend getting rid of it so it wont leave any files behind on my computer?

Hi,
How would you recommend getting rid of it so it wont leave any files behind on my computer?

I will give a series of instruction. Make sure you're following all the instruction until I mention it's clean. ;)

First,
Uninstall Punkbuster
Please download this application.
  • Double click on pbsvc.exe > Click on Uninstall/Remove PunkBuster Service > Click on Next> > Click on I Agree > Click on Finish after the removal is done.
  • Once finished, click Start>Run and copy and paste this:
    Code: Select all
    cmd /c for %i in (A B K) do sc delete PnkBstr%i
  • Click OK. A black box will flash very briefly, this is normal.
  • Double click My Computer on your desktop and browse to c:\windows\system32\drivers
  • Delete this file if it's there: PnkBstrK.sys

Next,
CKScanner by askey 127.
Please download from HERE and save to the desktop.
Note: If you are using Vista, right click and choose Run as Administrator.
  • Double click onCKScanner.exe to run it and click Search For Files.
  • After a very short time, when the cursor hourglass disappears, click Save List To File.
  • A message box will verify the file saved.
  • Double-click the CKFiles.txt icon on your desktop and copy/paste the contents in your next reply.

Next,
RSIT by random/random.
Please download from from HERE and save to the desktop.
  • Double-click on RSIT.exe to run the tool.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it finishes, two logs will open.
    • log.txt will be opened maximized
    • info.txt will be opened minimized
  • Please post the contents of both logs in your next post.
***You can find manually the log at C:\rsit

Next,
Checklist.
Please post.
  • Content of CKFiles.txt
  • Content of log.txt and info.txt (Find both in c:\rsit)

I apologize, but is it completely necessary for me to remove those files because they merely use the word crack in them? They are merely vital files for the LEGITIMATE mods of the Half life 2 Engine.
http://www.empiresmod.com/info.php
as well as
http://www.fistful-of-frags.com/info.php

These are Legitimate games made through legal means of Steam's Hammer Editor program, as well as other legal program made a public non profitable program based off a source-code released engine with large fan bases and forums.
I know not of why they chose these file names, if it is absolutely imperative that I remove these files, then I will do so.

I understand, heres the new log of CK scanner

CKScanner - Additional Security Risks - These are not necessarily bad
scanner sequence 3.MN.11
----- EOF -----

Also I have my AVG now calling a list of things, even itself a virus, i initially put it all in the virus vault but realized they were some of my necessary programs to my computer. I also have adobe installed, i had tyhe option to install it every startup but just never got to doing it. SuperAntispyware found plenty of trojans but Im too nervous to reboot my system.
Help :(

Hi,
I have included the removal of SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition as it will hinder the process of malware removal.
You may install it after your system is malware-free.

First,
Remove programs.
Please Click on Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
Remove the listed program(s) by clicking Remove
ooVoo
ZoneAlarm Spy Blocker Toolbar
SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition <<You can reinstall after the system is clean.

Kaspersky keeps freezing at random times or I accidentally close it in Task Manager because the virus uses iexporer.exe to play advirtisements into my headset but i cant see it on my desktop. I guess I'll try to do it at a time when I'm not doing anything thats probably why it keeps freezing.
Whenever I have a chance to get out of the house ill leave it on, Hope you dont mind the wait :)
