Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. HijackThis logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me. I know that you need your computer working as quickly as possible, and I will work hard to help see that it happens.

Before we start: Please be aware that removing Malware is a potentially hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. However it is impossible for me to foresee all interactions that may happen between the software on your computer and those we'll use to clear you of infection, and I cannot guarantee the safety of your system. It is possible that we might encounter situations where the only recourse is to re-format and re-install your operating system, or to necessitate you taking your computer to a repair shop.

Because of this, I advise you to backup any personal files and folders before you start.

Somethings to remember while we are working together.

1.Please do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
2.Please reply to this thread, do not start another!
3.Please tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
4.Please tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
5.Please try as much as possible not to run anything while executing a fix.

If you follow these instructions, everything should go smoothly.

I would like to get a better look at your system, please do the following so I can get some more detailed logs

Download DDS

Please download DDS by sUBs from one of the links below and save it to your desktop:

Image
Download DDS and save it to your desktop

Link1
Link2
Link3

Please disable any anti-malware program that will block scripts from running before running DDS.

  • Double-Click on dds.scr and a command window will appear. This is normal.
  • Shortly after two logs will appear:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • A window will open instructing you save & post the logs
  • Save the logs to a convenient place such as your desktop
  • Copy the contents of both logs & post in your next reply

GMER:

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here or here.
  • Extract the contents of the zipped file to desktop.
  • Double click GMER.exe. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent .
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO, then use the following settings for a more complete scan..
Image
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...
    • Sections
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "ark.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

:information and logs:

In your next post I need the following

      1.logs from DDS
      2.log from GMER

Hi,

When I try to run combofix I get the following error:

Windows can not find '32788r22fwjfw\iexplore.exe'. Make sure you have typed the name correctly and try again.

I hit o.k. and it will not close out of the program therfore I need to go to my task list to close out of it.

Thanks again

Hello Qubie

I would like you to run combofix in safe mode

Boot into Safe Mode

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.

  • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
  • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.

Please continue as follows:

  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
  • double click the combofix icon

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the report in your next post:

greetings Qubie

great job so far

1st I would like you to move combofix directly to your desktop - right now it is in a folder that is on the desktop.

next I want you to rerun combofix while in normal mode and see if it will run this time and let me have the log it makes.

Will not run tells me windows cannot access the specified device or file, you may not haveper the appropriate permissions to access them.

Thanks again

Hello Qubie

I am going to ask as to why this is happening.

While I am doing this can you tell me if you moved combofix to your desktop and when you run combofix are you disabling all your antivirus and firewall and the spyware programs

Re: Help please

Unread postby Qubie » November 5th, 2009, 10:11 am

I'm not sure why this is happening. Thought maybe you could tell me.

I have moved combofix to the desktop and have turned off all antivirus and firewall and the spyware programs.

Did a reboot and still got the following error

C:\32788r22fwjfw\iexplore.exe
windows cannot access the specified device or file, you may not have the appropriate permissions to access them

Thanks again.

Hello Qubie

I'm not sure why this is happening. Thought maybe you could tell me.

Sorry I ment that I was going to ask the develeper about it and it may have to do with comodo - they don't play well together

ok so lets keep going

: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware :

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is Checked (ticked) except items in the C:\System Volume Information folder and click on Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply
    • If you accidently close it, the log file is saved here and will be named like this:
    • C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

:Kaspersky scan:

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

    • Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
    • It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
    • When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
    • Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
        Archives
        Mail databases
    • Click on My Computer under Scan.
    • Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
    • You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
    • Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
    • Please post this log in your next reply.

uninstall list

Make an uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

    1. Start HijackThis
    2. Click on the Config button
    3. Click on the Misc Tools button
    4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
    5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply.

:information and logs:

In your next post I need the following

    1. log from MBAM
    2. log from kaspersky
    3. the uninstall list from hijackthis
    4. let me know of any problems you may have had
    5. How is the computer doing now?
