Hi cargani.
Please continue with this.

Re-run - RSIT (Random's System Information Tool)

You should still have this program on your desktop.
  • Right click on RSIT.exe and select "Run As Administrator" to run it. If Windows UAC prompts you, please allow it.
  • Please read the disclaimer... click on Continue.
  • RSIT will start running. When done... ONLY the "C:\RSIT\log.txt"...will be reproduced. ( it will be maximized )
  • Please post ONLY the "log.txt", file contents in your next reply.
(This log can be lengthy, so a separate post may be needed.)

Next.

Please Download SysProt Antirootkit
you will find it at the bottom of the page under attachments, or you can get it from one of the mirrors.

Unzip it into a folder on your desktop.
  • Right click Sysprot.exe and chose Run as Administrator to start the program.
  • Click on the Log tab.
  • In the Write to log box select all items and check Hidden Objects Only at the bottom of the window.
  • Click on the Create Log button on the bottom right.
  • After a few seconds a new window should appear.
  • Select Scan Root Drive. Click on the Start button.
  • When it is complete a new window will appear to indicate that the scan is finished.
  • The log will be saved automatically in the same folder Sysprot.exe was extracted to. Open the text file and copy/paste the log here.

In your next reply.

1. RSIT log.txt.
2. Sysprot log.
3. Please give me an update on your computers performance also.

Hi cargani.

I am including an optional fix for Crawler toolbar and GoogleToolbarNotifier.
The classification of these is open to debate, As they may offer or exhibit borderline or questionable behavior. The decision to fix them is yours.

    I suggest that you:

    1. Evaluate what benefit downloading the "Crawler Toolbar" has for you.
    2. Read the following two(2) Web pages and decide if the sharing of the information collected is something you are willing to live with (Note: In order to visit each of the following sites listed an attempt is made nineteen (19) times to store cookies on your system):
  • CRAWLER PRIVACY POLICY
    http://www.crawler.com/privacy_policy.aspx
  • CRAWLER TERMS OF USE AND END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT
    http://www.crawler.com/terms_of_use.aspx

For more information on GoogleToolbarNotifier see Here

Add/Remove programs

Re: Infection "Hacked by Tbh w0rm" containig HijackThis log

Unread postby Cypher » November 8th, 2009, 8:13 am

Hi cargani your latest set of logs are clean! :)

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

OTC

Download OTC by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop. This tool will remove all the tools we used to clean your pc.

  • Right-click OTC.exe And select " Run as administrator " to run it.
  • Click the CleanUp! button
  • Select Yes when the Begin cleanup Process? Prompt appears
  • If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes
  • The tool will delete itself once it finishes, if not delete it by yourself

Note: If you receive a warning from your firewall or other security programs regarding OTC attempting to contact the internet, please allow it to do so.

You can now delete any tools we used to clean your PC if they remain on your desktop.

Next.

Hide system files
  • Click Start.
  • Select Control Panel.
  • Select classic view in the left panel.
  • Select the Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Scroll down to Hidden files and folders.
  • Select Do not show hidden files and folders.
  • Check (tick) Hide extensions of known file types.
  • Check (tick) Hide protected operating system files (Recommended).
  • Click Apply > OK.
  • Close My Computer.

Next.

Flush infected System Restore points

  • Click Start > Right click on Computer and select Properties > System protection.
  • (untick) Vista (C:) (system) box an click Turn off system restore then Apply then Ok .
  • Restart your computer.
  • Note: Do this only ONCE, don't flush it regularly.

Next.

Create a new, clean System Restore point

  • Click Start > Right click on Computer and select Properties > System protection. > Create.
  • Give this restore point a descriptive name and click Create.
  • When done, click Apply > ok.

Protection Programs
Don't forget to re-enable any protection programs we disabled during your fix.

Here are some free programs I recommend that could help you improve your computer's security.

Install Malwarebytes Anti-malware
These are anti-malware applications that can thoroughly remove even the most advanced malware. They include a number of features, including a built in protection monitor that blocks malicious processes before they even start.
You can find information and Download it from HERE

Install Sitehound
SiteHound is a toolbar for Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox which alerts you if you're about to enter a potentially dangerous website.
You can find more information and download it from Here

Install WinPatrol
As a robust security monitor, WinPatrol will alert you to hijackings, malware attacks and critical changes made to your computer without your permission. WinPatrol takes snapshot of your critical system resources and alerts you to any changes that may occur without your knowledge.
For more information, please visit HERE

MVPS Hosts

Install MVPS Hosts File From Here
The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.
You can Find the Tutorial HERE

Update your Antivirus programs and other security products regularly to avoid new threats that could infect your system.
You can use one of these sites to check if any updates are needed for your pc.
Secunia Software Inspector
F-secure Health Check

Microsoft Windows Update
Microsoft releases patches for Windows and Office products regularly to patch up Windows and Office products loopholes and fix any bugs found. Install the updates immediately if they are found, You need to install the Vista service packs for your system.
To update Windows
Go to Start > All Programs > Windows Update > Check for updates.
To update Office
Open up any Office program.
Go to Help > Check for Updates

Read some information HERE On how to prevent Malware

Is your pc running slow?
Read What to do if your Computer is running slowly

I would be grateful if you could reply to this post so that I know you have read it and, if you've no other questions, the thread can be closed.

Safe surfing! :)
