AntiVir Alerts after removing SpywareStrike (hijack this)

Unread postby n3gative » January 8th, 2006, 8:19 pm

Hello everyone,

Last night sometime I was infected with SpywareStriker, which I can only assume bounced through my router onto my roomates computer. I was able to completely get rid of the infectious programs, and the annoying system tray popups on both computers, but I still get a warning message from my Anti Virus program - AntiVir Personal that tells me the Zlob Trojan is still attempting something... I don't know if this is something I failed to remove, or something Spyware Doctor and Antivir didn't pick up... If someone could please examine my HijackThis log, I'd appreciate it very much.

Thanks in advance!

*Edit*

This is the exact Warning message I get from AntiVir:

C:\SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION\_RESTORE{4A7D156F-087F-41BA-A5C7-FD18A5F114B0}\RP114\A0112622.TLB

Is the Trojan horse TR/Dldr.Zlob.DR

Your log is clean.
AntiVir is picking up on a file that was saved in an old system Restore.
Now that your machine is clean, old restore points can be removed.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Disable WinXP System Restore
Disable your System Restore to remove malware files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing them. The only way to erase these files is to temporarily disable System Restore. You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected.
- Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
- On the System Restore tab, put a Check mark in the Turn Off System Restore check box.
- Click OK twice, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
If you are not prompted to reboot, do it on your own.
-----------------------------------------------------------
After the Reboot,
Enable WinXP System Restore
- Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
- On the System Restore tab, Clear the Check mark beside the Turn Off System Restore check box.
- Click OK twice, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
The Disable/Re-enable System Restore sequence is not to be done regularly, but only once after the removal of malware.

You should be fine. If you need further assistance, we are here.
