Search Settings 1.2.2

Unread postby Correao » October 19th, 2009, 12:07 am

Hello,

The other day, I went to restart my computer, and saw a little window pop up that said that there were some updates that needed to be installed when I restarted, and would that be ok? so I clicked the Ok, and landed in gooped up computer land.

I have about 10 seconds between 25 or 30 second freezes. Also, every time I try to open any file, from My Computer to a text file, I have an installation window open saying that "Please wait while Windows configures Search Settings 1.2.2" Then I get another window saying that it will close all open instances of FireFox before continuing.

I have attempted to uninstall the program from my Add/Remove programs section, but get the following error: "Search Settings 1.2.2 Error 1402: Could not open Key. UNKNOWN\Search Settings.BHO.1\CLSID. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personnel."

I have run Hijack this, and am running a full scan with Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware, have already run an Uninstall List, and have that saved, as well. I have run spybot, etc, to no avail, though spybot did find multiple trojans and other baddies.

Please let me know what I need to do in order to get this off my computer, and my computer cleaned up.

Thank you! :(
