Hi - now that we have reached this point it's rather a mute point to continue working on correcting my windows problems - I don't use this computer for storing any financial information and have contacted the 3 major credit rating services for Faud Alerts, changed passwords at ebay, amazon, etc., web sites as a precaution. I deleted the sdra64 trojan threat and registration infections the same day I discovered it. I read somewhere that Malwarebytes was able to recongnie and deleted it - I deleted the trojan using the manual technique described at http://www.pcanswers.co.uk/blog/sdra64e ... e-21-05-09 and used Malwarebytes to detect and eliminate the registration infections. I have learned today that my HP Pavilion DV8000 has the capacity to hold two HD and can run two separate O/S. I'm just going to add a 2nd HD, reload my O/S to that drive and go from there- but I like to thank you for all of your work, amazed at how your were able to recover and restart some of the various problems - great work - will look you up again if I ever need help - thanks, George
