Hi Francis -

I'm not quite done yet. I began the Kaspersky scan last night, but I'm not sure whether it finished yet. I will post this evening (~12 hours from now) and let you know how things went.

Thanks -

Hi Mitch,
Have you update your Adobe version and also Java? Please update them as outdated version possesses vulnerabilities to your system.

Kaspersky report shows infection in your Outlook Express folder. Below are the list of infected folder

C:\Documents and Settings\Mian\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{4E3254D7-522A-412A-9296-3F4767B3A2CB}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Bro.dbx Infected: not-a-virus:RemoteAdmin.Win32.RAdmin.20 1
C:\Documents and Settings\Mian\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{4E3254D7-522A-412A-9296-3F4767B3A2CB}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Bro.dbx Infected: not-a-virus:RemoteAdmin.Win32.RAdmin.22 2
C:\Documents and Settings\Mian\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{4E3254D7-522A-412A-9296-3F4767B3A2CB}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Deleted Items.dbx Suspicious: Trojan-Spy.HTML.Fraud.gen 14
C:\Documents and Settings\Mian\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{4E3254D7-522A-412A-9296-3F4767B3A2CB}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Deleted Items.dbx Infected: Trojan-Spy.HTML.Bankfraud.px 1
C:\Documents and Settings\Mian\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{4E3254D7-522A-412A-9296-3F4767B3A2CB}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Sent Items.dbx Suspicious: Trojan-Spy.HTML.Fraud.gen 6

Do you have any important data stored in your Outlook Express? I would like to suggest you to backup all the files that is important to you,
Then i will proceed with another and remove the remaining infected email.

To backup your email, please follow the below instructions

1 - Backing Up Emails

  • Start Outlook Express
  • You will come across something as per below screenshot
    Image
  • On the Local Folder, right click and select New Folder. A new folder will be created.
  • Drag emails that you wanted to backup to this folder.
  • With that, you have successfully backup your important email.

Note: Proceed with the following only AFTER you backup your emails.

2 - ComboFix Script
1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

File::
C:\Documents and Settings\Mian\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{4E3254D7-522A-412A-9296-3F4767B3A2CB}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Bro.dbx
C:\Documents and Settings\Mian\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{4E3254D7-522A-412A-9296-3F4767B3A2CB}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Deleted Items.dbx
C:\Documents and Settings\Mian\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{4E3254D7-522A-412A-9296-3F4767B3A2CB}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Sent Items.dbx

Folder::
C:\The Drake Letters

Save this as "CFScript.txt", and as Type: All Files (*.*) in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Image

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt which I will require in your next reply.

3 - BitDefender Online Scan
Please go to Bitdefender website to perform an online scan.
  • Click on I Agree.
  • You will be prompted to install an ActiveX. Please allow it and install it.
  • Under Select what you want to check for viruses, click on the Click here link.
    • Check (tick) the Desktop box.
    • Click on + sign next to My Computer. Uncheck (untick) your CD or DVD drive box(es).
    • Uncheck the Network box.
    • Click OK.
  • Under Settings, click on the Click here link.
    • Under Action options, select Report only option.
    • Click on the + sign next to Second Action.
    • Select Report only option.
    • Click OK.
  • Click on Click here to scan link.
  • It will start loading the antivirus scan engine and virus definitions and start the scan. This will take a while. Please be patient.
  • Click on Click here to export the scan report.
  • Click on Desktop on your left.
  • In the File Name box, copy and paste in Report.txt
  • In the Save As Type box, select Text (Tab Delimited) (*.txt) file.
  • Click Save.

Unfortunately I will not have time to complete your latest instructions until September 20th. I hope you don't need to close this thread, but if you do, I will start a new topic on September 20th when I have done as you asked.

Thanks for your help so far.

Due to the original poster being unavailable to reply, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
