I am having an issue on my daughter's computer. Websearches run but when you click on links you are redirected to other sites. Asklots.com seems to be a main one. Ad aware runs but doesn't help. Spybot will not run, Hijack this will not run. Doesn't matter if I am in safe mode or not. I get a message that I do not have permission to run them. Computer is running Vista home edition.

All of my posts need to be checked by a teacher, so please be patient while I attempt to remove your malware.
All applications I ask to be used will require to be run in Administrator mode. IE: Right click on and select Run as Administrator.
The Operating System(Vista aka Windows 6) in use comes with a inbuilt utility called User Access Control(UAC) when prompted by this with anything I ask you to do carry out please select the option Allow.
Download and Run: RSIT
Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
Right click on RSIT.exe, click "Run as Administrator" to run RSIT.
Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)
Right click the .exe file and click "Run as Administrator". If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent
If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO
Click the image to enlarge it
In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...
Sections
IAT/EAT
Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
Show All (don't miss this one)
Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish
Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file
Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in reply
**Caution** Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries Note: Do not run any programs while Gmer is running.
Please post both RSIT logs and the GMER log on your next reply.
