virus problems

I seem to have a virus on my computor it started last week and was trying to make me buy a virus program everything seemed locked but I was finally able to get my computor working through the safe mode and it removed the viruses but when i used my internet search it would take me some where other than what I clicked on. Then today it says I still have a virus I dont know what else to do can you help? I am not that computer literate either, my son usually helps me but he is out of town, he suggested I post here. Thanks.

Hi, Welcome to the Malware Removal forum.
My name is Cypher, and I'll be helping you with your malware problems.
Before we begin...please note the following important guidelines.

1. The instructions being given are for YOUR computer and system only!.
   Using these instructions on a different computer, can damage that computer and possibly make it inoperable!
2. If you have questions about something...ASK, don't guess or assume.
3. Only post your problem at (1) one help site. Applying fixes from multiple help sites can cause problems.
4. Only reply to this thread do not start another, Please continue responding until I give you the "All Clean"
5. DO NOT run any other fix/removal tools unless instructed to do so!
6. DO NOT install any other software (or hardware) during the cleaning process. This adds more items to be researched.
7. Print each set of instructions...if possible...your Internet connection might not be available during some fix processes.
   The logs from the tools we use can take a while to research so please be patient.
   
   If you follow these guidelines, things should proceed smoothly.

   Please post an Uninstall list.
   
   
   1. Open HijackThis.
   2. Click on the Open the Misc Tools section button.
   3. Look under System tools.
   4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
   5. Click on the Save list... button.
   6. It will prompt you to save. Save this log in a convenient location. By default it's named uninstall_list.txt.
   7. Notepad will open. Please post this log in your next reply.
