Hi x16nickx,
-----------------------------------------------------------
Move HijackThis into its own folder. It is now in a temporary folder whose contents may get deleted. This would destroy the backups made by HiJackThis.
To make a new permanent folder: Go to My Computer, doubleclick C:
- Click File, New, Folder
- type in HJT
You now have a new folder at C:\HJT\. Copy all the HijackThis files from their present location into this new folder.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Remove Registry items with HighjackThis. Start HijackThis.
Click Do System Scan Only. When the Scan is complete, Check the following entries:
(Some of these lines may be missing)

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [SpybotSD TeaTimer] C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\TeaTimer.exe
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jp2iexp.dll
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jp2iexp.dll
O16 - DPF: {39B0684F-D7BF-4743-B050-FDC3F48F7E3B} - http://www.fileplanet.com/fpdlmgr/cabs/ ... .7.109.cab
O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0002-ABCDEFFEDCBA} (Java Plug-in 1.6.0_02) -
O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0003-ABCDEFFEDCBA} (Java Plug-in 1.6.0_03) -
O20 - Winlogon Notify: __c0045F72 - C:\WINDOWS\
O20 - Winlogon Notify: __c00B75B2 - C:\WINDOWS\system32\__c00B75B2.dat

Make sure Every other window except HJT is closed (No other tabs showing in the bottom tray), and Click Fix Checked
Click the "X" in the upper right corner of the HiJackThis window to close it.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Remove Programs Using Control Panel
From Start, Settings, Control Panel or Start, Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs.
Highlight this Entry, and choose Remove. You can re-install it when we are done if you wish.

Spybot S&D

Take extra care in answering questions posed by any Uninstaller. Some questions may be worded to deceive you into Keeping the program.
-----------------------------------------------------------
REBOOT Your Machine
-----------------------------------------------------------
Retrieve the List of Installed programs Using HJT
Open HijackThis, click Open The Misc Tools Section. Then scroll down the list if you need to, click Open Uninstall Manager and Save List...
The List of installed programs will automatically be saved as uninstall_list.txt in your HiJackThis folder. In addition, the list opens in Notepad so you can also save as another name in another location if you wish. Please paste the contents into your next reply.
Click the "X" in the upper right corner of the HiJackThis window to close it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download and Run MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
Please go here to the Download Location, click on Download.
  • After clicking on the download and choosing Save, the "Save to location" dialog will come up.
  • Choose Desktop as the location to save the installer and click Save again.
  • You should now have a desktop icon named mbam-setup.exe. Double-click it.
  • Let it install the program where it wants to, with the default settings, and click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • If necessary, start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware again.
  • Once the program is running, select Perform Quick Scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • If it found any malware items. Be sure that every item is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location, and post the contents in your reply.
  • The log can also be found using the "Logs" tab in the program. You can click any log listed to open its contents.
  • Recent logs are named by time/date stamp in this format : mbam-log-2009-mm-dd(hour-min-sec).txt
  • You can now delete the installer icon, named mbam-setup.exe from your desktop.

So we are looking for the Installed programs list from HiJackThis and the Log from malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Re: Search engine redirected and IE windows appear with ads

x16nickx,
This old Java is one of the reasons for the Vundo infection. Let's remove it right away. You don't need it.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Remove Programs Using Control Panel
From Start, Settings, Control Panel or Start, Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs.
Highlight this Entry, and choose Remove :
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
Take extra care in answering questions posed by any Uninstaller. Some questions may be worded to deceive you into Keeping the program.
-----------------------------------------------------------
TFC(Temp File Cleaner):
  • Please download TFC to your desktop,
  • Note: Save your work. TFC will automatically close any open programs. Let it run uninterrupted.
  • Double-click TFC.exe to run the program.
  • The scan shouldn't take longer take a couple of minutes, and may only take a few seconds.
  • TFC will most likely require a Reboot. If prompted, click "Yes" to reboot.
---------------------------------------------
Now let's do a few things to see if there are additional files to be removed
---------------------------------------------
Run CKScanner
Download CKScanner from here:http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/CKScanner.exe
Important - Save it to your desktop.
Doubleclick CKScanner.exe and click Search For Files.
After a couple minutes or less, when the cursor hourglass disappears, click Save List To File.
A message box will verify the file saved.
Double-click the CKFiles.txt icon on your desktop and copy/paste the contents in your next reply.
-----------------------------------------------------
Run an Online Kaspersky WebScan
  • Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.
  • Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  • It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  • When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  • Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  • Click on My Computer under Scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  • You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  • Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  • Please post this log in your next reply.

So we are looking for the contents of CKFiles.txt on your desktop, and the contents of the Kaspersky log.

CKScanner - Additional Security Risks - These are not necessarily bad
c:\qoobox\quarantine\c\windows\system32\grouppolicymanifest\1.crack.zip.kwd.vir
c:\qoobox\quarantine\c\windows\system32\grouppolicymanifest\1.crack.zip.vir
c:\qoobox\quarantine\c\windows\system32\grouppolicymanifest\6.keygen.zip.kwd.vir
c:\qoobox\quarantine\c\windows\system32\grouppolicymanifest\6.keygen.zip.vir
c:\qoobox\quarantine\c\windows\system32\systemx86\237.crack.zip.kwd.vir
c:\qoobox\quarantine\c\windows\system32\systemx86\237.crack.zip.vir
c:\qoobox\quarantine\c\windows\system32\systemx86\238.keygen.zip.kwd.vir
c:\qoobox\quarantine\c\windows\system32\systemx86\238.keygen.zip.vir
scanner sequence 3.DD.11
----- EOF -----

Also I can't run Kasperky I keep getting the following message:

Update has failed. Program has failed to start. Close the Kaspersky Online Scanner 7.0 window and open it again to install the program.
You must be online to update the Kaspersky Online Scanner 7.0 database. With the latest database updates, you can find new viruses and other threats. Please go online to use Kaspersky Online Scanner 7.0. [ERROR: Key is expired]

I did what it told me but I keep getting the same message.

Also whenever I close the explorer.exe everything seems to work fine, I get no pop-ups and my search engine works fine

Those files shown by CKScanner are harmless, already quarantined.
(Cracks are a certain way to get your computer infected)

Try this one. I think the kaspersky site is not working correctly.

Due to Lack of Response this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
