Many malware related problems

Unread postby Ryank13 » July 4th, 2009, 3:58 pm

Hello, I'm new here. I've always been able to clean my computer by myself yet this time i have been unsuccessful. For the past month or so I have been unable to use search engines. I sort of brushed it of and did nothing about it. Recently my computer has become very slow and experiencing many errors. Programs will freeze, random stuff is running in the background, my desktop will disappear, I get random errors from various programs including "google downloader", which I do not even know what that is. I also cannot access any anti spyware related website. Many direct windows components also do not work properly. I cannot run a disk defragment and my ctr+alt+delete window is missing its menu. Also my World of Warcraft account was hacked. Their support said it was due to malicious software and I should clean my computer.
I've managed to get a few programs from download.com. At first I tried to download hijackthis and malware bytes. It would not let me install either. I then downloaded adaware. This helped a bit, although it will not allow me to update my database. I can now use hijackthis, and although I installed malware bytes, I cannot open it. I still have all these problems and would appreciate the help greatly. Thank you very much for taking the time to help me!

Edit: I was able to run malwarebytes in safe mode. It found about 80 infections. Although through safe mode I could nto update the database. I then tried to restart in normal mode and started receiving runtime errors '0' and '4' upon startup of malware bytes. Ive tried unistalling it and what not in both normal and safe mode and I cannot get it to run properly again. Now I also cannot access the internet at all(I am on my laptop). In both IE and google chrome i just receive "Webpage not available". I was able to download cc cleaner through this laptop and install it via a flash drive. I didn't notice any improvements though. Sorry for the wall of texts! Thanks again in advance.

Welcome to Malware Removal!
My name is Bjorn, known as Bv202 on this forum and I'll be happy to assist you with all your malware problems you have on your computer.

Before we start fixing your computer, there are a few points you need to know:
  • Please don't start a new topic, but reply on this one.
  • If you don't understand something, please ask!
  • If you find any new problems and/or details, please post them!
  • Please always try to reply within 3 days. If you know you won't be able to reply for any reason, please tell me so we don't close your thread.
  • As I'm still in training here at Malware Removal, all my posts needs to be checked by an expert first.

Remember: absence of symptoms does not mean your computer is clean!!
Please reply to this topic until I say your computer is clean.

I'm now researching your log. Once it's done, I'll be back to you.

In the meantime, please do this:
  • Open HijackThis.
  • Look under Misc tools.
  • Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
  • Click on the Save list... button.
  • It will prompt you to save. Save this log in a convenient location. By default it's named uninstall_list.txt.
  • Notepad will open. Please copy and paste the contents of this log in your next reply.
