just come across this ;according to my searches in my log the file


C:\WINDOWS\TASKMON.EXE

taskmon.exe is a process which is registered as the AUTOTROJ-C, MYDOOM.A or MYDOOM.J trojans. It takes advantage of the Windows LSASS vulnerability, which creates a buffer overflow and instigates your computer to shut down. am I right or am I wrong? nowt has come up on any of my computer scans with AVG; adaware, spybot,, stinger, A2; have I found a false positive or have I misread the log or misread the info?

Do the following search on 'Taskmon.exe':

There are five (5) reported and KNOWN instance variations for that EXE. Three (3) are user choice instances and two (2) are known-bad instances. Everything in malware has a CONTEXT, you need to be sure that you have found the correct context for any conclusions you might make.

You clearly appear to have a good variation of that file.


If you are still unsure whether you have found a good or bad instance, try the following useful steps:


HIDDEN FILES: To make sure you can see any and all hidden files, please follow the directions here

Scan unknown files for viruses/malware
Please go to this website and submit the following files (copy and paste each full file PATH) for possible Viruses/Trojans detection analysis and immediate feedback:

Submit these files (or use Start>Search to locate FULL File Path):

Let us know what the results were for the file(s).
