Hello and welcome to Malware Removal.

My name is peku006 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.
I will be giving you a series of instructions that need to be followed in the order in which I give them to you.

Please observe these rules while we work:

  • I f you don't know or understand something please don't hesitate to ask
  • Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans whilst I am helping you.
  • It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
  • Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

1 - Download and Run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  1. Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and save it to a convenient location.
  2. Double click on mbam-setup.exe to install it.
  3. Before clicking the Finish button, make sure that these 2 boxes are checked (ticked):
      Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
      Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  4. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware will now check for updates. If your firewall prompts, please allow it. If you can't update it, select the Update tab. Under Update Mirror, select one of the websites and click on Check for Updates.
  5. Select the Scanner tab. Click on Perform full scan, then click on Scan.
  6. Leave the default options as it is and click on Start Scan.
  7. When done, you will be prompted. Click OK, then click on Show Results.
  8. Checked (ticked) all items except items in the System Volume Information folder and click on Remove Selected.

    Image
  9. After it has removed the items, Notepad will open. Please post this log in your next reply. You can also find the log in the Logs tab. The bottom most log is the latest.

2 - download and run RSIT

  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt<- (will be maximized) and info.txt<- (will be minimized)

3 - Status Check
Please reply with

1.the logs from RSIT (log.txt ,info.txt)
2. the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Log

Thanks peku006

Thank you so much for helping me, however I have had problems at the first step. I was able to download and install Malwarebytes Anti Malware (after some trouble with the installer) and now I cannot get the prorgam to run/launch no matter what I do. I tried re-naming the program and running it in safe mode but this didnt seem to work.

Any suggestions? Again, thank you for your time.

Hi Nic

1 - Download and Run ComboFix
We will continue with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:
This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.
ComboFix SHOULD NOT be used unless requested by a forum helper

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Ensure you have disabled all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
If you need help to disable your protection programs see here.

When finished, it will produce a log for you
Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.

2 - Status Check
Please reply with

1. the ComboFix log(C:\ComboFix.txt)

Thanks peku006

I tried ComboFix but I had the same problem as with Malwarbytes, I downloaded the application, disabled my antivirus etc, clicked on the program and it wouldnt launch. I tried a number of times. Its showed up in the process window of task manager but it would not open/run.

Is there anything else I can try or should I throw my PC into the bathtub?

Hi johnsonic,

peku has unfortunately been in a serious traffic accident and is hospitalized.
I will try to step in and help you with your machine.

Let's see if we can locate any place in the Registry where some scurrilous entries are preventing you from running these programs.
If we find them, we will attempt to fix the registry and then run the tool(s).

-----------------------------------------------------------
Please download the Registry Search Tool from here (scroll down-there are also other tools on the page):
http://www.billsway.com/vbspage/
Unzip it to a convenient location such as your Desktop.
Make sure that your Antivirus / OS allows the use of the .vbs scripts. If prompted, make sure to allow the script.
Double click regsearch.vbs You may have to give permission, or right click it and choose "Run as administrator".
Copy / Paste the following line into the Search Box:
Combofix
then hit Ok
It may take a while to run.
It will tell you when it's done and offer to have you look at the file.

Say Yes, and when it opens copy/paste the content in your reply.
(The file will probably open in Wordpad, so you can also save it anywhere handy).

Hi askey127,

I'm terribly sorry to hear about Peku, please pass on my best wishes.

I ran the registry search and here are the results:

REGEDIT4
; RegSrch.vbs © Bill James

; Registry search results for string "Combofix" 31/05/2009 9:20:59 a.m.

; NOTE: This file will be deleted when you close WordPad.
; You must manually save this file to a new location if you want to refer to it again later.
; (If you save the file with a .reg extension, you can use it to restore any Registry changes you make to these values.)

[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1637087945-3817303484-204196511-1006\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache]
"C:\\Documents and Settings\\Nic Johnson\\Desktop\\ComboFix.exe"="ComboFix"

Thanks for the help!

johnsonic,
----------------------------------------------
Please download GooredFix from one of the locations below and save it to your Desktop
Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2
  • Double-click GooredFix.exe to run it.
  • Select 1. Find Goored (no fix) by typing 1 and pressing Enter.
  • A log will open, please post the contents of that log in your next reply (it can also be found on your desktop, called GooredLog.txt).
Note: Do not run Option #2 yet.

If you need to delete underlying files in a folder and are unable to do so:
Right click the file set for deletion, and check Properties to see if it's read-only. Uncheck the read-only box, click Apply and OK. Then retry Delete.
If a message pops up saying "File in use", or something like that,, note the name of the file, hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete and look under the Processes tab. If the exact filename is in there, highlight it and click End Process, then retry Delete.
Please Note the name and location of any item you cannot delete, or any file not found.

johnsonic,
A few items:
  • Read the instruction on the Registry edit very carefully.
If Fixme.reg is not saved as type All Files (you can choose the file type when you name it), it won't work properly. The program that runs it is regedit.
If it works correctly, it will pop a message saying it merged with the registry.
  • We won't work on machines with cracked software. Besides being illegal, they are 100% guaranteed to deliver infections.
    These appear to be cracks:
    Ahead Nero 7 0 1 2 Ultra Edition with Keygen - English.zip
    DVDXCopy Platinum\Platinum Keygen.lnk

Those need to be removed in order for us to continue. Your call.
