Hello dman11111,

Welcome to the MWR forums.

First, you might want to think about uninstalling the Logitech Desktop Messenger. (It's the cause of all of those O18 entries.) See Here, for more details.

It also appears that you have a Look2Me infection.Pleaseownload L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save L2MFix to your desktop
Double-click l2mfix.exe.
  • Click the Install button to extract the files
  • Follow the prompts
  • Open the l2mfix folder on your desktop.
  • Double-click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for "Run Find Log" by typing "1". (without the quotes)
  • Press enter.
  • This will start the scan.
Note: it may appear nothing is happening. Please be patient until scan finishes.
  • When scan is complete, Notepad will open with a log.
  • Copy the contents of that log and paste it into your reply to this thread.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so! This Fix must NOT be run in safe mode for it to work.

Please note: While running option #1, you may receive an error similar to this:

''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications."

Choose "close" to terminate the application. Please use option #5 or the web page link in the l2mfix folder to correct this error. Do NOT run the "fix" portion without resolving this first.

Hellodman11111,

OK, on to the next step.

Please close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop:
  • Double-click l2mfix.bat
  • Select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and pressing enter.
  • The process will start. Note: Your desktop and icons will disappear (this is normal).
  • L2mfix will continue to scan your computer
  • When it's finished, you will need to reboot.
  • Press any key to reboot.
After the reboot Notepad will open with a log.
Copy the contents of that log and paste it into your reply to this thread, along with a new Hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so! Do Not run in safe mode!!
If after the reboot the log does not open double click on it in the l2mfix folder. :blob7:

Hello Dave,

I am currently doublechecking something in your current (option #2) l2mfix log file. Be back as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience. :blob7:

Hello Dave,

Things are looking good so far. To make sure we got everything please do the following:

We need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.

Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
  • Click Tools=>Settings.
  • In the left pane Click Real-time Protection.
  • Under Startup Options Uncheck Enable the Microsoft AntiSpyware Security Agents on startup (recommended).
  • Under Real-time spyware threat protection
  • Uncheck Enable real-time spyware threat protection (recommended).
  • Click Save button.
  • Close Microsoft AntiSpyware.
  • Right Click the Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on the taskbar.
  • Select Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware.
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

Please download ewido Security Suite
  • Install ewido security suite
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu."
  • Launch ewido, there should be a big "E" icon on your desktop, double-click it.
  • The program will prompt you to update click the "OK" button
  • The program will now go to the main screen

You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
  • Click on Start

The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. After the updates are installed, exit ewido.

Once the updates are installed do the following:
  • If you have an "always on" connection to the internet, physically disconnect that connection until you are finished with Safe Mode and have rebooted back into normal mode.
  • Reboot into Safe Mode, you can do this by restarting your computer, then contiunally tapping F8 until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter. Then, run ewido.
  • Close all open windows/programs/folders. Have nothing else open while ewido performs its scan!
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Settings
    • Under "How to scan" all boxes should be selected
    • Under "Possibly unwanted software" all boxes should be selected
    • Under "What to scan" select scan every file
    • Click OK
  • Click on Complete system scan
  • Let the program scan the machine
  • If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. NOTE: We have been finding some cases of false positives with the new version of Ewido, so we need to step through the fixes one-by-one. If Ewido finds something that you KNOW is legitimate (for example, parts of AVG Antivirus, AOL, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk" have been flagged. In particular, watch for alerts that have the word "Heuristic" in them - if you recognize the file name as "friendly," these may actually be false positives) select "none" as the action. DO NOT check "Perform action with all infections." If you are unsure of an entry, select "none" for the time being. I'll see that in the log you will post later and let you know if ewido needs to be run again.

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report.
  • Click Save report
  • Save the report to your desktop
  • Exit ewido.

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: Hints - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hr8s05l7e.dll (file missing)

With all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

Post back a new HJTp/b] log, along with the report from the [b]ewido scan:wave:

You are very welcome. Too bad we couldn't complete the fix although from the way it sounds everything seems to be OK.
