Hello Kiwi and welcome to the forums.

Please do not run any other programs with out my permission !!
Run all programs in the order posted !!!!!

My name is flashh4 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.

Please observe these rules while we work:

1. If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
2. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
3. Please continue to respond until I give you the "All Clear"
(Just because you can't see a problem doesn't mean it isn't there)
4. Please note you'll need to have Administrator privileges to perform the fixes. (XP accounts are Administrator by default)
5. Please let me know if you are using a computer with multiple accounts, as this can affect the instructions given.
6. Please post all request .......... not as a Attachment.

If you can do those things, everything should go smoothly.

Please note that all instructions given are customised for this computer only, the tools used may cause damage if used on a computer with different infections.

If you think you have similar problems, please post a log in the HJT forum and wait for help.

Note: I am still in training at Malware Removal, however I will be working under the direct supervision of one of our Malware Experts. Any recommendations will first be approved before being given to you. Because of this, there may be a short delay in getting our responses to you, however be assured that we will be working diligently on your problem.

I will be back as soon as possible with a fix !!
In the mean time can you give me an Uninstall list please !!

  1. Open HijackThis.
  2. Click on the Open the Misc Tools section button.
  3. Look under System tools.
  4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
  5. Click on the Save list... button.
  6. It will prompt you to save. Save this log in a convenient location. By default it's named uninstall_list.txt.
  7. Notepad will open. Please post this log in your next reply.

*Notes*
1. It would be very helpful if you informed me of which Antivirus and Firewall you are running or if it's disabled.
2. There is a 5 day limit which you must respond to this topic or it will be closed. Then you will have to start a new topic.

The separated lines make your HJT log hard to read, so try this and post a new HJT log. In notepad log >>> click on FORMAT in the top menu bar
and uncheck WORD WRAP.

Post Next:
1. New HJT log
2. Uninstall List

Thanks
Chuck

Hi Kiwi, lets continue.

I see you are using Wild Tangent. It is not malware, but is sometimes thought to bring malware along. Unless you are an extremely avid games player, I recommend you fix this...

Wild Tangent is a video game software company specializing in online games. It has even made a partnership with AOL to include itself as part of the AOL Instant Messenger for their AIM games section.
The WildTangent Web Driver is their technology that allows you to play 3D games over the Internet. Although it's not technically considered spyware, it does have built in components to update itself and gather information about the computer system including

* Operating System Version
* CPU Type and Speed
* Memory Amount
Video Card type and Driver Version
* Sound Card type and Driver Version
* DirectX Version
Location that the Web Driver was installed from
* It is also a MAJOR resource hog.

REMOVE P2P PROGRAMS

IMPORTANT I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Person to Person) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

uTorrent

Please read the Guidelines for P2P Programs where we explain why it's not a good idea to have them.

Note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.

Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the programs listed above (in red) NOW.

Post back a new HijackThis, so we can continue cleaning your pc.

Thanks
Chuck

Chuck,

I have run into a few problems, Firstly i couldn't find wild Tangent in add/remove programs so couldn't do that.

The ATF thing worked fine but when i installed the anti-malware i kept getting a windows error message that the program has stopped working and its checking for solutions.

At this point i stopped and have not completed the other tasks.

Hi Kiwi, don't worry about not finding the WildTangent Web Driver but please rename Malwarebytes and run it , Rename the downloaded installer file to any generic name such as your own name but keep the .EXE extension on the file and run it.
* Once the program is installed go to the UPDATE tab and try to update the program if you can.
* Then go to the SCANNER tab and run a Quick Scan and allow MBAM to fix anything found.

Post the RSIT (2logs) along with the Malwarebytes log.

Thanks

- Logon GUID is a unique identifier that can be used to correlate this event with a KDC event.
- Transited services indicate which intermediate services have participated in this logon request.
- Package name indicates which sub-protocol was used among the NTLM protocols.
- Key length indicates the length of the generated session key. This will be 0 if no session key was requested.

Re: hijack log

Unread postby flashh4 » April 11th, 2009, 12:27 pm

Hi Kiwi, lets continue.

Backup the Registry

  • Download ERUNT
  • Save it to your desktop. Right click on the downloaded file(erunt.zip) and click Extract.Follow the prompts to extract the file.
  • Now click on the folder "erunt" and find and double click on the file called Erunt.exe
  • Click OK. Then Click OK again.
  • Click save and then go to File > Exit.
This is so the registry can be restored to this point if we need it. It may take a minute. Just let it run until it's done.

NEXT

  1. Please download OTMoveIt3.exe from Geeks to Go and save it to your desktop.
  2. Right click on OTMoveIt3.exe and select Run As Administrator to run it. When Windows prompts, please allow it.
  3. Please copy and paste the following in the Code box into OTMoveIt3 (1).

Warning: Do not type it out to prevent any typo errors and damaging your machine.

    Code: Select all
    :files
    C:\Windows\.MS32DLL.dll.vbs
    C:\torrent downloads
    C:\Users\Bazza\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent
    C:\ProgramData\WildTangent
    :reg
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{9bf209e1-19d0-11de-82dd-0021867194be}]
    :Commands
    [EmptyTemp]
    [Reboot]

Please refer to this image to use OTMoveIt3.

    Image

  4. Click on MoveIt! (2)
  5. Click Exit (3) when done.

Please post the OTMoveIt3 log, how is everything running now?
Thanks
