When you run malwarebytes you need to check mark fix selected items, you will need to run that through again.
You can see from the log no action was taken.

--------------------

Run HijackThis, select Do a system scan only and place checks against the following entries (if they are still present)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {b0cda128-b425-4eef-a174-61a11ac5dbf8} - (no file)

WITH ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED Click on Fix Checked and exit

-----------------

Optional Fix

I see that Viewpoint is installed. Viewpoint, Viewpoint Manager, Viewpoint Media Player are Viewpoint components which are installed as a side effect of installing other software, most notably AOL and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM). Viewpoint Manager is responsible for managing and updating Viewpoint Media Player’s components. You can disable this using the Viewpoint Manager Control Panel found in the Windows Control Panel menu. By selecting Disable auto-updating for the Viewpoint Manager -- the player will no longer attempt to check for updates. Anything that is installed without your consent is suspect. Read what Viewpoint says and make your own decision.
To provide a satisfying consumer experience and to operate effectively, the Viewpoint Media Player periodically sends information to servers at Viewpoint. Each installation of the Viewpoint Media Player is identifiable to Viewpoint via a Customer Unique Identifier (CUID), an alphanumeric identifier embedded in the Viewpoint Media Player. The Viewpoint Media Player randomly generates the CUID during installation and uses it to indicate a unique installation of the product. A CUID is never connected to a user's name, email address, or other personal contact information. CUIDs are used for the sole purpose of filtering redundant information. Each of these information exchanges occurs anonymously.

Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without user's approval but doesn't spy or do anything bad. This may change, read Viewpoint to Plunge Into Adware.

I recommend that you remove the Viewpoint products; however, decide for yourself.

To uninstall the the Viewpoint components :
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. In Add or Remove Programs, highlight >>Viewpoint component<< , click Remove.

How to prevent it from being recreated every time you run the AOL software:
    • Open AOL
    • Go to Help on the toolbar
    • Select About AOL
    • Hit Ctrl D and a secret panel can be accessed which will allow you to disable all desktop and IM features associated with Viewpoint.

--------------------

I'd like to see an online scan now.

Note for Vista Users: Eset is compatible but Internet Explorer must be run as Administrator. To do this, right-click on the IE icon in the Start Menu or Quick Launch Bar on the Taskbar and select "Run as Administrator" from the context menu.

Please go to Eset website to perform an online scan. Please use Internet Explorer as it uses ActiveX.

  1. Check (tick) this box: YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
  2. Click on the Start button next to it.
  3. When prompted to run ActiveX. click Yes.
  4. You will be asked to install an ActiveX. Click Install.
  5. Once installed, the scanner will be initialized.
  6. After the scanner is initialized, click Start.
  7. Uncheck (untick) Remove found threats box.
  8. Check (tick) Scan unwanted applications.
  9. Click on Scan.
  10. It will start scanning. Please be patient.
  11. Once the scan is done, you will find a log in C:\Program Files\esetonlinescanner\log.txt. Please post this log in your next reply.

--------------------------

Please download JavaRa and unzip it to your desktop.

***Please close any instances of Internet Explorer before continuing!***

  • Double-click on JavaRa.exe to start the program.
  • From the drop-down menu, choose English and click on Select.
  • JavaRa will open; click on Remove Older Versions to remove the older versions of Java installed on your computer.
  • Click Yes when prompted. When JavaRa is done, a notice will appear that a logfile has been produced. Click OK.
  • A logfile will pop up. Please save it to a convenient location.

Then download and install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 12.

Don't forget the eset scan, malwarebytes report, and java report :)

---------------------

Please note! you will only need one of each, One Antivirus, One firewall.

You aren't running Anti Virus Software

Anti-virus software are programs that detect, cleanse, and erase harmful virus files on a computer, Web server, or network.
Unchecked, virus files can unintentionally be forwarded to others, including trading partners and thereby spreading infection. Because new viruses regularly emerge, anti-virus software should be updated frequently. Anti-virus software can scan the computer memory and disk drives for malicious code. They can alert the user if a virus is present, and will clean, delete (or quarantine) infected files or directories. Please download a free anti-virus software from one these excellent vendors NOW:

1) Antivir PersonalEditionClassic
-Free anti-virus software for Windows.
-Detects and removes more than 50,000 viruses. Free support.
2) avast! 4 Home Edition
-Anti-virus program for Windows.
-The home edition is freeware for noncommercial users.
3) AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition
-Free edition of the AVG anti-virus program for Windows.

There is no sign of a Third Party Firewall installed on your system.
As the term conveys, a firewall is an extra layer of security installed onto computers, which restricts access to systems from the outside world. Firewalls protect against hackers and malicious intruders. I want you to download a free firewall NOW from one of these excellent vendors:

There are several possible reasons for the Firewall not showing.
  1. You are using Windows Firewall. This is not recommended as it will only stop incoming material. It permits all outgoing traffic.
  2. You are using a hardware firewall. It should be complemented with a Third Party Software Firewall
  3. You have a firewall, but you disabled it. Please re-enable it.
  4. You don't have a firewall at all.

If you don't have a third party firewall, please get ONE firewall and install it. Restart the computer for changes to take effect.

Online Armor
Comodo Personal Firewall

Please post back a new HijackThis log after installing them both.

I didn't have access to my girlfriend's laptop yesterday. We went on our break from school so she was at home for the day. I thought i copied and pasted all the logs. hmmm

I ran the malwarebyte lastnight, and I selected the "remove all" so all the files were quarantined, but here is the new log anyways.

Download and Run OTMoveIt3

Download OTMoveIt3 by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
  • Double-click OTMoveIt3.exe. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit3.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below.
Code: Select all
:files
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\WildTangent21.zip
C:\Documents and Settings\Tasha\Desktop\music\Brit & Alex- if you never knew.mp3
C:\Documents and Settings\Tasha\Desktop\music\grown up christmas list accomp.mp3
C:\Documents and Settings\Tasha\Desktop\music\kate voegele dont look away.mp3
C:\Documents and Settings\Tasha\My Documents\My Music\music\Miscellaneous\Brit & Alex- if you never knew.mp3
C:\Documents and Settings\Tasha\My Documents\My Music\music\Miscellaneous\kate voegele dont look away.mp3

  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it in your next reply.

I posted the logfile on here, but for some reason it's not showing up. it was the successful log and it moved all the files. I don't know where the log is now.

It said that it successfully moved all the files. I don't know why I am not seeing it in this thread, i swear i posted it, AND i looked at it after.

If you go to > C:\ otmoveit\ moved files << you will find the log in that folder.
Can you let me know how things are?
I'd like to see a further HJT log
Thanks
