There are indications of several problems in your log and it will take a few steps to clean out the malware so please work carefully through the following. In your log I see you have Norton and Panda running as your Anti-Virus applications. Are you still using Norton Symantec? If you are and still want to keep it, you need to continue to keep it disabled while using Panda as your resident antivirus/firewall. Click HERE for more information on how to disable Norton.

----------

You may want to print out these instructions or save them as a text file with Notepad to your desktop because we will be restarting into Safe Mode later on in the fix and you might not be able to access the Internet. Read this instructions carefully and feel free to ask if you're unsure about something

----------

1. Download smitRem.exe© noahdfear and save the file to your desktop. DO NOT RUN IYT YET.

2. Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

Please read Ewido Setup Instructions
Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

(Note: As this is a trial version, after the 14 day trial period has expired Ewido will lose some functionality with it. Ewido will then will work as an On-Demand program, make sure to check for updates regularly).

----------

Update your Ad-Ware

Start your copy of Ad-Aware and click the 'globe' button at the top to check for and download any updates.

When it's downloaded all the updates, close the program - DO NOT RUN YET.

----------

You may have the MyWay search toolbar installed. Although this is now owned by 'Ask Jeeves', it is still considered malware because it is installed without giving the user proper information in the download agreement.Fore more information on this matter click HERE.

If you installed MyWay intentionally, then it's fine. But I would recommend on removing this feature. If you decide to uninstall this. go into Add/Remove and look for MyWay Speed Bar.

----------

You have Ad-aware's Ad-Watch running on your machine and that is good.
But prior to doing the fix below with hijackthis, it needs to be turned off or it will stop the fixes from doing their job.

Please do the following:

Open AdAware SE.
Go to AdWatch User Interface.
Go to Tools and Preferences.
At the bottom of the screen you will see 2 options Active and Automatic.
Active: This will turn Ad-Watch On\Off without closing it.
Automatic: Suspicious activity will be blocked automatically
Uncheck both options. You can enable these after resolving your problem.

Remember when we have completed cleaning your machine to turn this back on.

----------

Safe Mode

  1. Reboot the machine and wait for the beep.
  2. Rapidly press the F8 key until a menu of boot options appears
  3. Select Safe Mode

If your keyboard has a soft F lock remember to press it to enable the F8 key.

----------

Reveal Hidden Files

  1. Click Start.
  2. Open My Computer.
  3. SelectTools menu
  4. Click Folder Options.
  5. Select the View Tab.
  6. Select Show hidden files and foldersin the Hidden files and folders section.
  7. Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  8. Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known file types option.
  9. Click Yes.
  10. Click OK.

----------

Run HJT from the location it is saved. 'Do a system scan only' and put a check next to the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: HomepageBHO - {1ca480cd-c0e5-4548-874e-b85b17905b3a} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp4BC7.tmp (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: awtsr - C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtsr.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: sstqo - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sstqo.dll (file missing)

If you decided to uninstall the MyWay SpeedBar, then place a check next to the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.dell4me.com/myway
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.dell4me.com/myway
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.dell4me.com/myway
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://www.dell4me.com/myway

With no other windows open other than HJT. Click on Fix.

----------

Staying in Safe Mode. Delete the following files and folders in RED:

Files...

C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtsr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp4BC7.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sstqo.dll

Folders...

C:\Program Files\MyWaySA (Only delete this if you uninstalled MyWay)

----------

Staying in safe mode.

1. Click or double-click on the smitRem.exe file on your desktop and extract the program into its own folder on the desktop
2. Ensure there are no other open programs/windows on your computer then open the folder and click or double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool
3. Follow the prompts and then wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish
4. A log named smitfiles.txt will be created in the root of your drive (eg Local Disk C: or the partition where your operating system is installed). Locate that and send me that in your reply.

----------

1) In safe mode. Run Ad-Aware.

2) Select Configurations (click the Gear wheel at the top) as follows:

  • General Button > Safety & Settings: Check (Green) all three.
  • Tweak Button > Cleaning Engine > UNcheck "Always try to unload modules before deletion".

Click Proceed.
3) To start the scan, Click > "Scan Now" at left

  • Deselect "Search for negligible risk entries" as negligible risk entries (MRU's) are not considered to be a threat.
  • Select "Search for low-risk threats"
  • Select "Perform full system scan"
  • Click Next
4) When the scan has completed, select Next.

  • In the Scanning Results window, select the "Critical Objects" tab.
  • Right-click on the screen and choose "Select all objects"
  • Click Next to remove the infections found, and click OK to the prompt.
  • Do not restart the computer.

----------

Go Start>Control Panel>Display>Desktop>Customize Desktop>Web and UN-check 'Security Info' if present

With no other windows open. Please Run Ewido

1. Click on scanner.
2. Click on Complete System Scan, the scan will now begin.
3. While the scan is in progress you will be promted to clean files, click OK.
4. When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a checkmark in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections", then choose clean and click OK.
5. Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located at the bottom of the screen named Save Report.
6. Click Save Report.
7. Now save the report .txt file to your desktop.

Please note that you should leave the computer alone when Ewido is scanning untill it is finished

----------
Restart you computer into Normal Mode
----------

You need to use the online Panda ActiveScan below rather than your resident Panda Antivirus. Because it has a good record of alerting us to nasties that may be new and not in the SmitRem fix yet.

Run Panda's ActiveScan from here and perform a full system scan.

- Once you are on the Panda site click the "Scan your PC" button
- A new window will open...click the big "Check Now" button
- Enter your Country
- Enter your State/Province
- Enter your e-mail address and click send
- Select either Home User or Company
- Click the big Scan Now button
- If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
- It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It will take a couple minutes)
- Click on "Local Disks" to start the scan
- Post Panda scan results in your next reply

----------

Click on http://virusscan.jotti.org/ and upload C:\Program Files\Common Files\kqwz\kqwzm.exe. And press on Submit. It will then scan that file with various different appilications. Post back to me on what it finds.

----------

In your reply back, please include the following:

A fresh HJT log
smitRem.txt
Ewido log
Tell me what Jotti finds on that file
And tell me anything Panda finds :D

Note - You can send me any logs in more than one reply if needed.
