Hi. I've come to this site in an effort to nip this problem in the bud before it has any time to do anything dangerous. Apparently, I happened upon a slew of trojans or some kind of malware yesterday, which is strange because the site I went to does not normally cause problems. Most of the time, Avast offers some options, I let it do it's thing by either sending to chest or deleting the file(s). When I woke up this morning, before anything even started I recieved an alert. Then, when I opened up IE7, the homepage was not loading optimally, and I recieved a fake virus scan pop up. As I tried to navigate, sometimes the pages would not load at all, or would give me more phony virus detection pop ups. I'd also notice that the computer's login music would play after the desktop appeared when it was in the midst of infection, coupled with asking me to end explorer.exe when shutting down.

All day, I've bounced from method to method, going to the next best rather quickly, not wasting any time. I've tried Trojan Remover, VundoFix, SmitFraudFix, and even attempting to delete it myself (without going all the way and deleting in safe mode, as I didn't want to crash windows should this trojan be attached to explorer.exe). I'm told by Trojan Remover which dll and registry is problematic, but no other program detects it and nothing can delete it (normally). So finally, at the end of today, I did a google search and found this place. I really hope you can help me.

Please do not run any other programs with out my permission !!
Run all programs in the order posted !!!!!

My name is flashh4 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.

Please observe these rules while we work:
1. If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
2. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
3. Please continue to respond until I give you the "All Clear"
(Just because you can't see a problem doesn't mean it isn't there)
4. Please note you'll need to have Administrator privileges to perform the fixes. (XP accounts are Administrator by default)
5. Please let me know if you are using a computer with multiple accounts, as this can affect the instructions given.
6. Please post all request .......... not as a Attachment.

If you can do those things, everything should go smoothly.

Please note that all instructions given are customised for this computer only, the tools used may cause damage if used on a computer with different infections.

If you think you have similar problems, please post a log in the HJT forum and wait for help.

Note: I am still in training at Malware Removal, however I will be working under the direct supervision of one of our Malware Experts. Any recommendations will first be approved before being given to you. Because of this, there may be a short delay in getting our responses to you, however be assured that we will be working diligently on your problem.

In the mean time can you give me an Uninstall list please !!

1. Open HijackThis.
2. Click on the Open the Misc Tools section button.
3. Look under System tools.
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
5. Click on the Save list... button.
6. It will prompt you to save. Save this log in a convenient location. By default it's named uninstall_list.txt.
7. Notepad will open. Please post this log in your next reply.

*Note == There is a 5 day limit which you must respond to this topic or it will be closed. Then you will have to ask for it to be reopened or start a new topic.

Thank you for responding, but actually, I decided to reformat my computer, as I didn't have much to lose (everything was within My Documents or on flash drives already). What happened was that on Thursday, SpywareRemover 2009 had installed itself onto my computer, possibly while I was away and couldn't stop it.

I didn't want things to get worse before they got better, so to make sure I could kill it off before going in too deep, I just decided reformating would be quickest. I'm all back to where I was before the incident, but I know I'm not going back to the site I recieved the Trojan from again (or any other questionable site)!
