Rundll error - futofeja.dll and faweziju.dll

Unread postby r1976 » January 4th, 2009, 12:48 pm

Hi,
Just about a week ago, my laptop is acting weird. I have 2 Error Rundll msg come out everytime I start my laptop. It said error loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\futofeja.dll The specified module could not be found and Error loading c:\windows\system32\faweziju.dll The specified module could not be found. As well as Toshiba Power Saver Error msg said 'a Fatal error has occured. This program will be terminated. Code 0x0'.

When I start browsing, there is few occasions as well when suddenly there were 41 new windows of internet explorer pop-out automatically. 3 days ago I have installed RegCure software but I am not sure that help coz about 2 days ago I have uninstalled it. The reason for uninstalling the RegCure that 2 days ago suddenly my DVD drive cannot recognise a blank DVD disc. And it still cannot recognise a blank DVD disc.

Previously I have tried to system restore as well but it did not help. SO now I am installing HJTInstall and do the scan and here are the logs.

Thank you and much appreciate it.

Re: Rundll error - futofeja.dll and faweziju.dll

Unread postby Shaba » January 11th, 2009, 5:58 am

Hi r1976

One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.

This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:

How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud?

When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall

We can attempt to clean this machine but I can't guarantee that it will be 100% secure afterwards.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Please let us know what you have decided to do in your next post.

Hi Shaba,

Thanks for your response. At the moment I am backing up all the files. So I might think to format the whole laptop.

Shaba, there are few things I want to ask you.
1. Which part of the logs that indicate the back door Trojan?
2. How did I get that?
3. Can you tell me what sort of program antivirus I better to have.
4. Do you recommend to have automatic running updates on and download the update at all times?
5. For instance mozilla firefox have this update things, do you normally download the update or just ignored them?
6. Is there anything to indicate if the files/sites that I have visited contain Trojan?
7. Is any crack files contain Trojan?
8. Once I format the computer, can I trust this computer again?
9. Can you briefly share tips with me how to keep the computer clean?

Thank you for your help:)

Thank you for your explanation. I will

Hi Shaba,

I will finishing backing up all the files by today and I will formating the laptop soon. Thanks for your answer for some of my questions.

In the mean time, I would like to know is that - sometimes I need a software to burn dvd or software to convert files from rmvb to avi - e.g CloneDVD, total video converter. The software is not free, so I will look for crack software on the internet. The question I would like to ask you - do normally crack software contain trojan/virus? How can I check that to see?

Should I install HijackThis on my other computer to check the logs whether my other computer have bots just like the bots that you indicate to me?

Thanks again for your help and I will let you knw asap once i format it so you can give me tips how to maintain the laptop clean.

They can contain that and it is both stupid and illegal to use cracks because there are freeware alternatives as well.

It depends if those two computers have in been in connection or if you have moved things in between those computers.

Due to lack of response this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
