Avast signals that it found a virus Please Help

Unread postby E Mo » January 10th, 2009, 12:28 pm

Hi all,

I am new to your forums and was referred here by a friend.
My Avast antivirus has begun to tell me that "a virus has been detected".
Well being new to this whole thing I checked into this and found a couple things.
First I downloaded Ad-Aware and am currently running a check as well as an Avast virus scan.
Currently my Avast pops up every minute or so that a virus has been found.

When Avast pops up it says an "Autorun.inf in the C: drive and AUTORUN.inf in the D:

I have also ran HiJack this ( according to a friend) and am attaching the log to my post.
I was looking at a previous post from another member and when I tried to download one of the helper programs the download box comes up but will not stay on the screen.

I am somewhat computer proficient so I should be able to handle any help that you can give me.

Thanks

EM

Welcome E Mo

Apologies for the late reply. As you can appreciate the boards are quite busy. If you still require help with your computer problem could you do the following:

Random's System Information Tool (RSIT)
  • Download Random's System Information Tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Right click on RSIT.exe then choose Run as Administrator to run the tool
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open, log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)
  • Copy & paste the contents of both logs in your next reply
If info.txt does not minimise to the Task Bar, you will find it in C:\rsit

Due to lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
