Symantec pop-up: Auto-protect is Disabled?

Every time Windows (XP Professional) is started, a large yellow box appears at the bottom right of the screen stating that Symantec Antivirus (Corporate Edition, V 10.1.4.4000) Auto-Protect is disabled. The message appears about 3-4 minutes after starting windows and disappears after about 5 seconds. I am positive that the auto-protect feature is in fact enabled, so there should be no reason for this message to appear. I think it's also worth noting that this yellow message box looks suspicious -- as in, not authentic (bright yellow, large font). Any suggestions? Your expertise will be much appreciated.
