zlob continues after removal

[RRC]

I noticed everytime I tried to update Windows I was redirected to MSN.com . I did a Google search and found the problem attributed to zlob . I downloaded SpyBot and it found 4 cases of zlob. I deleted the files and it now continues to reappear in 2 files in the Registry . I am using a Westall 6100 modem and Netgear router with Netgear wireless adapter. Both computers on the system are infected .

I'm Odd dude, pleased to meet you; if it helps, you can call me OD . I am very sorry for the delay in responding, but as you can see we are at the moment being flooded with logs which, when paired with the never-ending shortage of helpers, resulted in the delayed responding to your thread.
If you have already recieved help elsewhere please inform me so that this topic can be closed. If you have not, please adhere to the guidelines below and then follow instructions as outlined further below:

• Logs from malware removal programs (Hijackthis is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient whilst I analyze any logs you post.
• Please carefully read any instruction that I give you.
  Reading too lightly will cause you to miss important steps, which could have destructive effects.
• If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Stop and ask!
• Only YOU must use these instructions, they are not suitable for any other computer with similar problems.
• Do not do things I do not ask for, such as running a spyware scan. The one thing you should always do, though, is making sure that your antivirus definitions are up-to-date!
• If I tell you to download a tool which you already have, please re-download it and do not use the copy you already have. This is because the tools are updated regularly.
• In Windows Vista, all tools need to be started by right clicking and selecting Run as administrator!
• I am going to stick with you until ALL malware is gone from your system. I would appreciate it if you were to do the same. From this point, we're in this together
• As I am still in training at the Malware Removal University, anything I do must be checked by an experienced malware fighter. This means there might be a slight delay in my answers.
• Lastly, I am no magican. I will try very hard to fix your issues, but no promises can be made. Also be aware that some infections are so severe that you might need to resort to reformatting and reinstalling your operating system. Don't worry, this only happens in severe cases, but it sadly does happen. Be prepared to back up your data. Have means of backing up your data available.

I am now analyzing your situation and hope to be back with you soon. While I am reviewing your situation, could you please do the following for me:

Make an Uninstall List
I need you to create an uninstall list so I can further analyze your situation.

• Start HijackThis.
• Click Open the Misc Tools section
• Click Open Uninstall Manager
• Click Save list...
• Save the list to your desktop, or any other convenient place.

This is a VERY long post.

Hold your breath, take your time, and perform steps one by one.

Ready? Here goes...

You have TeaTimer running
This is good as TeaTimer protects you from many malicious changes to your registry. However, TeaTimer is a computer program, which has no way of distinguishing between good or malicious intentions; this means it might hinder the modifications I need to make to your system.

This means that TeaTimer will need to be disabled until you have been cleaned of malware.

• Right-click on the Tea Timer icon in your system tray. It looks like this:
• If you have the new version 1.5: click once on Resident Protection, then right click the Spybot icon again and make sure Resident Protection is now unchecked. The Spybot icon in the System tray should now be now colourless.
• If you have Version 1.4, Click on Exit Spybot S&D Resident

This is not enough, there is a second step attached:

• Open Spybot S&D
• Click Mode, choose Advanced Mode
• Go to the bottom of the vertical panel on the left and click Tools
• Now, also in left panel, click Resident - the pictogram shows a red/white shield.
• In the Resident protection status frame, uncheck the box labelled Resident "Tea-Timer"(Protection of over-all system settings) active
• OK any prompts.
• Use File > Exit to close Spybot
• Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.

When I give you the all-clear post, remember to reenable it!



Please uninstall the following programs through the Add/Remove Software component of the Control Panel:
Java Runtime Environment 6 Update 4
URL Assistant
Verizon Internet Security*
Avast! Antivirus*

* You should NEVER run two antivirus programs at the time - this will cause terrible conflicts, both programs will miss files, your system becomes instable, etc.

Remove either Verizon Internet Security OR Avast!

I also see remnants of Symantec. Do you still use Norton Internet Security?
If you do you are actually running THREE antivirus programs instead of two, so one more will need to go!

Download/install the newest version of Java:
Download and install the latest version from here. The site is a bit confusing; this is what you should do:

• Scroll down to where it says Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 11.
• Click the Download button to the right.
• Choose the correct Platform. Also, check the box that says I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement.
• Now, click Continue.
• Click on the filename under Windows Offline Installation and save it to your desktop.
• Now, close all other windows. Including Internet Explorer.
• You can now install Java by double-clicking the executable you just downloaded.

Open hijackthis, close all other open windows, click do a system scan only, put a check next to these (don't panic if one isn't there), click fix checked:

Update your Adobe Reader
Your version of Adobe Reader is old and may contain security leaks. Please first uninstall the older version, then download and install the newest version from here.

WildTangent
You have installed WildTangent. It's not technically malware, but some people consider it to bring malware along. WildTangent is a video game software company, specialized in online games. The WildTangent Web Driver allows you to play 3D games over the internet. It does gather and send a lot of information about your computer to the WildTangent servers. It's not technically spyware, but personally I would not want a program that:

• gathers data about my operating system
• gathers data about my CPU type and speed
• tells its creators how much memory my PC has
• gathers data about my video card type and driver version
• gathers data about my sound card type and driver version
• gathers data about my DirectX version
• tells its creator from where it was installed
• takes up MASSIVE amounts of memory and processor power, even while not actively in use

Your call. If you don't want WildTangent after all, you can uninstall eMachines Game Console through the Add/Remove programs applet in the Control Panel.
