Unread postby rrbolin » December 5th, 2008, 1:11 am

Hello,

It seems I have Generic!Artemis on my computer (not this one). I downloaded and ran a scan with AntiVirus Plus (before finding out that it is bad software), and now that is giving me problems as well. How do I delete Generic!Artemis and AntiVirus Plus? My HijackThis log is below.

Thank you,

Unread postby flashh4 » December 13th, 2008, 6:01 pm

Hello rrbolin and welcome to the forums.

Please do not run any other programs with out my permission !!
Run all programs in the order posted !!!!!

My name is flashh4 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.

Please observe these rules while we work:

1. If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
2. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
3. Please continue to respond until I give you the "All Clear"
(Just because you can't see a problem doesn't mean it isn't there)
4. Please note you'll need to have Administrator privileges to perform the fixes. (XP accounts are Administrator by default)
5. Please let me know if you are using a computer with multiple accounts, as this can affect the instructions given.

If you can do those things, everything should go smoothly.

Please note that all instructions given are customised for this computer only, the tools used may cause damage if used on a computer with different infections.

If you think you have similar problems, please post a log in the HJT forum and wait for help.

Note: I am still in training at Malware Removal, however I will be working under the direct supervision of one of our Malware Experts. Any recommendations will first be approved before being given to you. Because of this, there may be a short delay in getting our responses to you, however be assured that we will be working diligently on your problem.

I will be back as soon as possible with a fix !!
In the mean time can you give me an Uninstall list please !!

  1. Open HijackThis.
  2. Click on the Open the Misc Tools section button.
  3. Look under System tools.
  4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager... button.
  5. Click on the Save list... button.
  6. It will prompt you to save. Save this log in a convenient location. By default it's named uninstall_list.txt.
  7. Notepad will open. Please post this log in your next reply.

Thanks
Chuck

Hello rrbolin, We need to move HJT !

We need to move HJT !
Please download the latest copy of HijackThis from Trend Micro and save it to your desktop.
It is important that you uninstall any previous versions by using Add/Remove programs in your control panel and remove the old HJT copy from the Desktop before installing a newer version.

1. Double click on HJTInstall.exe to install it. Click on Install. By default, it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
2. Read through the License Agreement presented to you on the next screen and click on I Accept.
3. Once installed, HijackThis will start automatically. If it doesn't, please go to your desktop and double click on the HijackThis shortcut created there.
4. Select Do a system scan and save a logfile.
5. Close HijackThis.

Note: Do not click on the AnalyzeThis button.

Do not fix any lines you see in HijackThis as most entries are harmless and needed for the normal functioning of Windows.

Post a new HJT log for review.
Also the Uninstall list.

Thanks
Chuck

Due to lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
