Hi,

Step 1

Please remove via Add or Remove Programs (press Start -> Controlpanel -> Add or Remove Programs):
Adobe Reader 8.1.2
Java(TM) 6 Update 3

Step 2

• Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 10 and save it to your desktop.
• Scroll down to where it saysThe Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications..
• Click the Download button to the right.
• Select Windows on platform combobox and check the box that says:
  Accept License Agreement. Click continue.
• The page will refresh.
• Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
• Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u10-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Step 3

1. Click here to download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
2. Select your Windows version and click on Download. If you are using Internet Explorer, you will receive prompts. Allow the installation to be ran and it will be installed automatically for you.
   If you are using other browsers, it will prompt you to save a file. Save this file to your desktop and run it to install the latest version of Adobe Reader.
3. Close your Internet browser and open it again.

If you don't like Adobe Reader, you can try Foxit PDF Reader. It's a much smaller file to download and uses a lot less resources than Adobe Reader.

Step 4

Please post a fresh HijackThis log.

Thanks for all the help. I removed the two programs you said. I think I did the JRE but it was update 11. I tried twice to d/l the prog you suggested, but it tells me there is a problem loading the page and then it won't lwet me back out of it. I went to d/l the mem hog adobe and I got an op sys error. I took a screen shot and then I'll include the HJT log:

OK I guess I won't. It tells me that HJT is already running. It isn't running because I did a ctrl alt delete. It's not listed there. *&(^%! filth and foul - I thought I was clean. Do you think this means that something/someone still has control / access? Listen, man, I really appreciate your help. My frustration is not at you, it's this *&(^ computer mess. Thanks for all the help you've given me so far. I appreciate you helping me get this figured out. I'm going to try restarting.

Yes, I did Adobe Reader after I couldn't do the other one. Do you think I'm clean now? The computer runs alright, but there are some issues every once in awhile now. Weird things that might notw be related like my screen went dark and wouldn't wake up right in the middle of using it. I had to restart. Then the thing above saying that hijack was running when it wasn't. Thanks for all your help. Oh, almost forgot. There was this issue that I got a screen shot of. Something was trying to control avg. I finally ended up approving it. Most of the time I don't know what I'm approving or blocking with commodo. It was dllsearch.exe sounds bad 2 me. I tried to look it up but couldn't tell if the sites knew what they were talking about or not.


Edit: Now I'm having problems. I don't know if it's related. I don't know what to think. Firefox opening really slow (5-10 minutes to open), general freezing up, and now I can't seem to get the read only check mark off the folder permissions. When I right click on the folder > properties, it counts up really slow (size, size on disk, contains). I don't think it did this before. I uncheck read only > apply. I am the admin. I r-click again and the read only is checked still. Could this be malware related? I need to backup my pictures and videos.

Maybe, but I think it's not... And if other programs open in normally, then I think there's some problem in Firefox.

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Now lets uninstall ComboFix:

• Click START then RUN
  
• Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK

Next we remove all used tools.

Please download OTCleanIt and save it to desktop.

• Double-click OTCleanIt.exe.
• Click the CleanUp! button.
• Select Yes when the "Begin cleanup Process?" prompt appears.
• If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.
• The tool will delete itself once it finishes, if not delete it by yourself.

Note: If you receive a warning from your firewall or other security programs regarding OTCleanIt attempting to contact the internet, please allow it to do so.

Re-enable Teatimer...

1. Go to Start > All Programs > Spybot - Search & Destroy > Spybot Search & Destroy.
2. On the left hand side, click on Tools.
3. Check (tick) this box: Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) active.
4. Exit Spybot Search & Destroy.
5. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

• Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This can be done by following these simple instructions:
• From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
• Click once on the Security tab
• Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
• Click once on the Custom Level button.
• Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
  
• Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
  
• Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
  
• Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
  
• Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt

• When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
  
• If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
