Advanced Go.Google redirect virus. Log included.

Unread postby meaganw » November 13th, 2008, 6:54 pm

About a week ago I contracted the go.google virus which redirected my searches, then successfully removed it with both Malwarebytes and XoftSpySE. Everything was fine and I ran spyware searches daily.

Three days ago I started things up and couldn't run XoftSpySE. The go.google virus was back, but in addition I can't run XoftSpySE or Malwarebytes. I've tried installing Spybot, SpyDoctor, etc. but can't run the setup files. Also, I can't access sites offering tech support, including this one -- I'm writing from my laptop. The virus blocks access to most new spyware downloads, so I have to go through download.com. Everything is running slower.

I can run AdAware, McAfee, HijackThis, and Spywareblaster. But none of these can find anything.

In short, please help. Here's the HJT file.

Hi meaganw,

You mentioned that you can't run Malwarebytes Antimalware, but according to the HijackThis log it was running at the time of the scan. Please tell me what happens when you try to use the program.

Download RSIT by random/random to your Desktop (right-click the link, select Save Target As..., select your Desktop and press Save)

  • Double click RSIT.exe to start the program, and click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • When the scan is complete, two text files will open - log.txt <- this one will be maximized and info.txt <-this one will be minimized
  • Make sure Format->Word Wrap is unchecked
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of log.txt and info.txt in your reply

Once complete, please post both RSIT logs, you won't need to produce a new HijackThis log as RSIT produces one for you.
