Hello kliao93,

I will be assisting you with your malware issues.

  • Whatever repairs we make, are for fixing your computer problems only and by no means should be used on another computer.
  • Continue to respond to this thread until I give you the All Clean! If you have any question or you're stuck in there please reply it to me. I will try my best to help you!
  • Please bookmark or favourite this page. In case you need it as reference or etc.
----------------------------------------------
You may need to uninstall-reinstall Hijackthis.
----------------------------------------------
FIX HIJACKTHIS ENTRIES

Open up Hijackthis.
Click on do a system scan only.
Place a checkmark next to these lines(if still present).

O2 - BHO: WormRadar.com IESiteBlocker.NavFilter - {3CA2F312-6F6E-4B53-A66E-4E65E497C8C0} - C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgssie.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{EA3235B5-C590-487C-84FA-B37E6EA39E26}: NameServer = 85.255.112.169;85.255.112.84

Then close all windows except Hijackthis and click Fix Checked
Close HijackThis.
----------------------------------------------
Using Windows Explore by right-clicking the Start button and left clicking Explore navigate to and find the following folder: if found, delete the following (some may not be present after previous steps):

Did you have AVG8 on this pc and uninstalled it?
If you uninstalled it remove this folder:
C:\Program Files\AVG
----------------------------------------------
Do you use a router?

I want you to turn it of, and on again.
There should be a small button at the back of the router.

Then do this:
----------------------------------------------
FLUSHDNS

Go start run type cmd and hit OK
type
ipconfig /flushdns
then hit enter, type exit hit enter
(that space between g and / is needed)
----------------------------------------------
Post back a new HijackThis log and let me know if Symantec still warns you.

Hello kliao93,

Go to Start-Settings-Control Panel, click on Add remove Programs. If any of the following programs are listed there, click on the program to highlight it, and click on remove. Then close the Control Panel.

    WiniGuard Software
----------------------------------------------
Set Your Computer to Show All Files
  • Click Start.
  • Click My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View Tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (recommended).
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known file types.
  • Click OK.
In addition, go to Start, Search.  When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom.
Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.
----------------------------------------------
Using Windows Explore by right-clicking the Start button and left clicking Explore navigate to and find the following folders/files: if found, delete the following (some may not be present after previous steps):

C:\Program Files\WiniGuard Software << Folder

C:\WINDOWS\system32\kdkia.exe << File

If you are not able to remove the file continue with the rest of the steps, and let me know.
----------------------------------------------
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location.
  • The log can also be found here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt
  • Post that log back here.
----------------------------------------------
FIX HIJACKTHIS ENTRIES

Open up Hijackthis.
Click on do a system scan only.
Place a checkmark next to these lines(if still present).

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WiniGuard] C:\Program Files\WiniGuard Software\WiniGuard\WiniGuard.exe -min
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [C:\WINDOWS\system32\kdkia.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\kdkia.exe
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{EA3235B5-C590-487C-84FA-B37E6EA39E26}: NameServer = 85.255.112.169;85.255.112.84

Then close all windows except Hijackthis and click Fix Checked
Close HijackThis.
----------------------------------------------
Run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware again and post back the report.
----------------------------------------------
Post back:
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware report 1st run.
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware report 2nd run.
A new HijackThis log.

i have manually explored and searched for C:\WINDOWS\system32\kdkia.exe
and could not find it so I am assuming it is gone. Just to let you know since you asked me too. i also have weird files that are transluent on my desktop. they have taken the appearance of other saved files on my desktop, except ratyher than saying something like blahblahblah file. they say $-Elahblahblah file. note that i dont actually know off by heart what the beginnings are to those files. and i think i have this virus on a removed usb stick i have. shood i just throw that out? anyways here they are in the order u asked them for.

Hello Kliao93,

I think i have this virus on a removed usb stick i have. shood i just throw that out?

No we'll disinfect it, do not worry.
----------------------------------------------
Safe Mode

Print out these instructions or save them into a notepad on your desktop, because you will not have internet access while in Safe Mode.
Go in Safe Mode by restarting your computer, then continually tapping F8 until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter.
----------------------------------------------
FIX HIJACKTHIS ENTRIES

Open up Hijackthis.
Click on do a system scan only.
Place a checkmark next to these lines(if still present).

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [C:\WINDOWS\system32\kdkia.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\kdkia.exe
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{EA3235B5-C590-487C-84FA-B37E6EA39E26}: NameServer = 85.255.112.169;85.255.112.84

Then close all windows except Hijackthis and click Fix Checked
Close HijackThis.
----------------------------------------------
Have a look again and remove this file if it's found. It still shows in your reports.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\kdkia.exe
----------------------------------------------
Do again this step.

FLUSHDNS

Go start run type cmd and hit OK
type
ipconfig /flushdns
then hit enter, type exit hit enter
(that space between g and / is needed)

In case it gives you the error that DNS can't be flushed, turn of your modem/router for a couple of minutes and turn it on again.
----------------------------------------------
Reboot in Normal mode now.
----------------------------------------------
Download ComboFix from one of these locations:
A word of warning: Please do not run ComboFix on your own. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools
  • See this topic if you need help to disable your protection programs.
  • Plug your USB on the pc.
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Image

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Image

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you.
Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply along with a HijackThis log.

Hello kliao93,

C:\WINDOWS\system32\kdkia.exe still isn't there

It is removed. :)
----------------------------------------------
REMOVE P2P PROGRAMS

IMPORTANT I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Person to Person) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

Ares

Please read the Guidelines for P2P Programs where we explain why it's not a good idea to have them.

Note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.

Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the programs listed above (in red) NOW.
----------------------------------------------
Upload a File to Jotti
Please visit http://virusscan.jotti.org/

Copy/paste this file and path into the white box at the top:
c:\windows\system32\drivers\chkurq.sys

Press Submit - this will submit the file for testing.
Please wait for all the scanners to finish then copy and paste the results in your next response.

Do the same for this file too:

c:\windows\system32\drivers\quadrarfdc.sys

----------------------------------------------
Do you know what is this file? It's a text file so you probably created it.

c:\program files\ddgswxk.txt

Did you create it? Can you have a look and see what's inside?
----------------------------------------------
Post back:
Jotti results.
Let me know about the text file.

and the file ddgswxk.txt was not created by me in my memory. it reads:
Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kdkia.exe
C:\Documents and Settings\Vicky\Local Settings\Temp\tmp1300.tmp
C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\quadra190a.tmp
C:\resycled\boot.com
C:\RECYCLER\ADAPT_Installer.exe
Folders to delete:
C:\resycled
and everytime I attempt to delete a shortcut of it in Documents and settings (i think, not sure) it recreates another copy of itself in there again.

also, in my shared folder, the virus created a file called thumbs.db and it looks like a .dll file. It is also translucent and keep returning no matter how much I try to delete it. So the usb is clean? and should i post another hijack this?

Hello kliao93,

sorry for the double post but this is sort of an emergency. i used otmoveit and by accident deleted pretty much EVERYTHING off my desktop. and i really need those files. and without them...i might as well kill myself. very important files, anyway to get them back?

This is what is happening when someone is using a tool, without knowing the proper knowledge.

See in OTMoveIt3 folder, and you'll find your lost items in the backups folder.
Just copy them back in their places. I hope this will recover them.

Do not run any other tools on your own.

You are not helping, just making this harder.
and the file ddgswxk.txt was not created by me in my memory. it reads:

Did you use another forum to remove this infection or did anyone else tried to help you remove it?
Those results shows that a tool was used, which i didn't instruct you to.

Plus the file was created wrongly, and at the wrong place.

If you are posting at another forum, let me know, as i will need to close this thread.

Following instructions from 2 different helpers can create a mess and more problems to your pc.
----------------------------------------------
Please attach your USB on the computer before following these instructions. Let the USB plugged on the pc untill Combofix finish.

COMBOFIX-Script
A word of warning: Please do not run ComboFix on your own. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.
  • Please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below:

    Code: Select all
    File::
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\chkurq.sys
    c:\windows\system32\drivers\quadrarfdc.sys
    c:\program files\ddgswxk.txt

    Registry::
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\ControlSet001\Services\quadraserv.sys]

  • Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.

    Image
  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before following the steps below.. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
  • Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
  • ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.
CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
----------------------------------------------
Post back:
Combofix report.
A new HijackThis log.

Re: PLZ HELP TROJANS ON COMP

Unread postby chryssi2001 » November 16th, 2008, 4:22 am

Hello kliao93,

It looks that Ares is still on your pc and you did not remove/uninstalled it as instructed!

As per our forum policy which i posted and explained to you, you should uninstall Ares immediately.
Why is it still on your pc?

You made quite a mess on your pc, probably trying to fix it.
You created unneeded folders which i would like to see the contents.

But for now, uninstall Ares and post back a new HijackThis log.

If you fail to do so and Ares still shows in your report, this thread will be closed immediately.
