Can't get to Windows/Microsoft updates + tons of pop-ups :(

Unread postby cacky » November 2nd, 2008, 9:24 pm

Greetings all,

My computer is apparently affected by malware. I am unable to download any files from Microsoft.com or run WindowsUpdate; my browser either brings me to msn.com or just stalls and gives me an error message saying it can’t connect to the site. I wanted to download the malicious spyware removal tool from Microsoft, but my computer isn’t letting me do this. In addition, I am experiencing a number of pop-up advertisements as well as re-directions to wrong sites.

I have already run SUPERAntiSpyware, Search and Destroy, and Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware but to no avail. I have spent most of the day trying to figure out what is going on, and also attempted to run all of these things in safe mode as well, but to no avail. I am not a computer wiz, so if anyone can please take a look at my HijackThis logfile and advise me as to what I can do to fix my problem, please let me know.

Below is the HijackThis logfile. Thanks in advance for all your help.

We're sorry, but your topic has been closed.

We're sorry you did not receive a response to your topic. This is most likely because you have replied to your own topic prior to receiving a response from a helper. Our helpers are looking for topics with zero responses. When you post replies to your own topic, it no longer has zero responses, and so it appears that you have received help when in fact, you have not.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Malware Removal forum and wait for assistance. DO NOT reply to your own topic until you have received a response from a helper. Helpers are looking for topics that have zero replies. If you post a reply in your own topic before you've received a response from a helper, your topic will no longer have zero replies and will likely be mistaken for one where a helper is already assisting and will, therefore, be passed over.

Thank you for your cooperation.
