Please help me remove this problem

hi,
I've got a notification that automatic updates is turned off and I go to Control Panle>System to turn it on and it says it is already on. Browser loads webpages unexepectedly. I'll get a pop-up every few seconds then it takes a break for a few minutes and then starts anew. AVG, McAfee, and Yahoo have all found and deleted several malicious files but the problem remains. I believe the problem came through a torrent download video file. I've deleted the file and deleted it out of the Recycle Bin. Also, my desktop eventually disappears. All icons are gone as well as the bar at the bottom and the Start tab. Nothing but wallpaper.

Welcome to the MWR forums. My name is Bio-Hazard. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. HijackThis logs can take a while to research. Please be patient and I'd be grateful if you would note the following:

Uninstall list

Make an uninstall list using HijackThis. To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

• Start HijackThis
• Click on the Config button
• Click on the Misc Tools button
• Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
• Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply.

Its not working for me.

When I click on Save List, HijackThis disappears. I restarted the computer and it didn't help. I uninstalled HijackThis and Reinstalled it and that didn't help. I've tried multiple times and everytime I click Save List, HijackThis shuts off and I have to reopen it.

I don't know why this is happening.

If you have any P2P programs installed you need to uninstall them before we can continue any further.

Use of P2P (Person to Person) file sharing programs

We have noticed that most people seeking help from us are coming with infections contracted from the use of P2P programs.

Because of this, we felt we needed to change our policy on the use of P2P file sharing programs.

• If your helper detects the presence of such programs on your computer he/she will ask you to remove them. We will withdraw our help should you not agree to their removal.
  
• If we clean your computer of infection, and you return to us a short time later with an infection contracted by the use of P2P programmes, we will refuse our help.

We do not ask you to do this without reason.

P2P programs form a direct conduit onto your computer, their security measures are easily circumvented, and Malware writers are increasingly exploiting them to spread their wares onto your computer. Further to that, if your P2P programme is not configured correctly you may be sharing more files than you realise. There have been cases where people's Passwords, Address Books and other personal, private, and financial details have been exposed to the file sharing network by a badly configured programme.

Many of the programs come bundled with other unwanted programs, but even the ones free of any bundled software are not safe to use.

When you use them you are downloading software from an unknown source directly onto your computer, bypassing your Firewall and Anti-Virus software. Hardly surprising then that many of these Downloads are being targeted to carry infections.

We see no purpose in cleaning your machine if you use P2P programs, as it is pretty much certain that if you continue to use them then you will get infected again.


Disable Windows Defender

From your log i can see this that you are running a Windows Defender. This might interfere with fixes we are about to do so we need to disable it. To disable your Windows Defender Real-time Protection.

• Open Windows Defender
• Click Tools
• Click General Settings
• Scroll down to Real Time Protection Options
• Uncheck Turn on Real Time Protection (recommended)
• Close Windows Defender

Note: Once your log is clean you can re-enable Windows Defender Real Time Protection.


Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

• Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and save it to a convenient location.
• Double click on mbam-setup.exe to install it.
• Before clicking the Finish button, make sure that these 2 boxes are checked (ticked):
  Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
• Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware will now check for updates. If your firewall prompts, please allow it. If you can't update it, select the Update tab. Under Update Mirror, select one of the websites and click on Check for Updates.
• Select the Scanner tab. Click on Perform full scan, then click on Scan.
• Leave the default options as it is and click on Start Scan.
• When done, you will be prompted. Click OK, then click on Show Results.
• Checked (ticked) all items and click on Remove Selected.
• After it has removed the items, Notepad will open. Please post this log in your next reply. You can also find the log in the Logs tab. The bottom most log is the latest.

Rename HijackThis

You need to rename HiJackThis to enable it to find malware programmed to detect and hide from it.

• Right click Start - Click Explore
• Navigate to: C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe
• Right click on HiJackThis.exe - click Rename
• Type into the name box: goodscanner.exe
• Press Enter
• Double click on goodscanner.exe to open it
• Select Do a system scan and save a logfile
• Post a new log

I already had the Malwarebytes downloaded and had ran the scan before and it found and deleted a bunch of stuff and deleted it and it didn't solve my problem. Here is the log from the scan ran today:

Poker sites

Party Poker, PartyCasino, UltimateBet, EmpirePoker, and the related sites are a risk and that's where most malware gets installed. Online Poker sites are well known for placing all manner of Internet parasites on their visitors' computers and continue to do so. They should be highly suspect for any Malware on your computer. In a lot of cases, these Poker plugins are also getting installed without your asking for it. You can read Poker gamers targeted by a rootkit backdoor regarding the risk involved with visiting the Poker games web sites. Two safe alternatives are PokerStars and Pogo.com.

I recommend that you remove Partypoker, you can follow the steps below.


Remove programs

Sun's Java is sometimes updated in order to eliminate the exploitation of vulnerabilities in an existing version. For this reason it's extremely important that you keep the program up to date and also remove the older more vulnerable versions from your system.

Also you dont need LimeWire Accelerator 4.10 any more.

• Click Start
• Go to Control Panel
• Go to Add/Remove Programs
• Find and click Remove for the following (if present):

Backup Your Registry with ERUNT

• Please use the following link and scroll down to ERUNT and download it on to your desktop. HERE
• Click on the erunt-setup.exe
• Follow the prompts to install ERUNT
• Choose language
• A set up window will pop up. It will ask: Create ERUNT entry in to the Start up folder, answer NO
  
  
  
• Backup your registry to the default location

Note: To restore your registry, go to the folder and start ERDNT.exe

• Open Notepad by click start
• Click Run
• Type notepad into the box and click enter
• Notepad will open
• Copy and Paste everything from the Quote box into Notepad:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\windows]
"AppInit_DLLs"=""

NOTE: Make sure there are NO blank lines before REGEDIT4
NOTE: Make sure there IS one blank line at the end of the file.

• Go to File > Save As
• Save File name as Fix.reg
• Change Save as Type to All Files and save the file to your desktop
• Close Notepad, and double-click Fix.reg on your Desktop
• When it asks if you want to merge the info to the registry, hit YES/OK
  Reboot computer

random's system information tool (RSIT)

• Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
• Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
• Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
• Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)
