Looking to get an "All Clear"

Unread postby ketchup » September 11th, 2008, 1:41 am

The problem was picked up once I was being redirected from the google browser's search links. Every time I clicked on a link, I would be brought to another no-name search engine. I was also unable to connect with MOST Anti-Viral websites like Trend Micro, Norton, Etc,.

Working around what was obviously the malware's attempt to prevent it's demise, I was able to download HJT, SVV, RootKitRevealer, and SDfix. I've done the best to my ability to remove any malware/trojans from my desktop but when I run the Trend Micro scan, there appears to be infected files in SDfix\apps and \backup folders. Is this because the SDfix program has quarantined the infected files and moved them to the above folders or has the SDfix been compromised? Also when I ran SVV, originally showed a level 5 threat then after SDfix was run in safe mode the check in SVV showed level 2 - when I was able to connect to TrendMicro's website I updated Trend (which required the uninstall of Search & Destroy and ADWARE by Lavasoft) and ran Trend's Scan and let it take care of what it found (the resgistry key I have for Trend is no longer valid). The check in SVV after went back up to a level 5. This is the latest HJT log -

Hi ketchup,

when I run the Trend Micro scan, there appears to be infected files in SDfix\apps and \backup folders. Is this because the SDfix program has quarantined the infected files and moved them to the above folders or has the SDfix been compromised?
SDFix moves infected files to quarantine rather than deleting them, and it's perfectly normal to have detections from this folder. We will remove the backups in due course but please leave them in place for now.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

First, I'd like to see what SDFix removed from your computer, please open this page in your browser:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/submit- ... channel=32

Fill in the link to topic field with a link to this topic
Copy/paste the following into the Browse to the file you want to submit field:
C:\SDFix\backups\backups.zip
Then press Send File, this will upload the file for analysis

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Download RSIT by random/random to your Desktop (right-click the link, select Save Target As..., select your Desktop and press Save)

  • Double click RSIT.exe to start the program, and click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • When the scan is complete, two text files will open - log.txt <- this one will be maximized and info.txt <-this one will be minimized
  • Make sure Format->Word Wrap is unchecked
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of log.txt and info.txt in your reply

Once complete, please post both RSIT logs, you won't need to produce a new HijackThis log as RSIT produces one for you.
