Windows system 32 exe ashdsp.exe error

Unread postby KimPro35 » August 30th, 2008, 12:54 am

Hi I am looking for some help to my computer system repair problem. I have been working at this for over a month and have tried several different repairs.

First I was dead locked in the blue screen of death and repaired this by installing a registry cleaner (However since the system 32 error the desktop now flashes on and then quickly off. I can only reach the net or programs by doing ctrl alt delete and running a new task.

I have installed additional software which is Registry Cure and Part to Logic. It runs at 91 errors and repairs them but still pops up the system 32 error about every 30 seconds. I have the original disk for Windows XP for my computer but it says I can't install it due to the fact that a newer version is current running. I have tried uninstalling the new so far with so success. I don't have a lot of background experience with computer repair so my computer lingo is limited.

This is my recent file / error history.

Any help would be appreciated!

  • I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • It's often worth reading through these instructions and printing them for ease of reference.
  • If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to say or ask!! It's better to be sure and safe than sorry.
  • Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.

One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan.

This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and Download and Execute files

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:

How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud?

When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall

We can attempt to clean this machine but i can't guarantee that it will be 100% secure afterwards.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Please let us know what you have decided to do in your next post.

Disable AVG

Please open the AVG Control Center program -> double-click on the "AVG Resident Shield" component (looks like this: Image) -> deselect the "Turn on AVG Resident Shield" checkmark and save the setting.

When you need to enable the AVG Resident Shield, just open the AVG Control Center program -> double-click on the "AVG Resident Shield" component -> select the "Turn on AVG Resident Shield" checkmark and save the setting.

Download and Run ComboFix

Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading ComboFix at your DESKTOP :
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix
Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

Additional links to download the tool:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://www.forospyware.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
http://subs.geekstogo.com/ComboFix.exe

Note: The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. A guide to do this can be found here.
The ones that need to be closed/disabled are:
List the programs that need to be closed/ Disabled here

  • Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.
  • When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt along with a new HijackThis log so we may continue cleaning the system.
