Welcome to the Forums.

The fixes we will use are specific to your problems and should only be used for this issue on this machine.

Please only use this topic to reply to. Do not start another thread.
If any other issues arise let me know.
The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear. So lets do this to the end!

  • Save and quit any work your doing before beginning the fix.
  • All hijackthis logs I ask for should be done in normal mode ( not safe mode)
  • These logs should be done last after you have followed my instructions in the previous post.

Please if you decide to seek help at another forum let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and tying 2 of us up is a waste of time.
If you have any questions about any advice given here please STOP and ask!

Submit a file to Jotti
Please go here : http://virusscan.jotti.org/
On top of the page there is a field to add the filepath, copy and paste this filepath in there.
If theres is more than one file to scan, insert them 1 at a time.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\__c007A6E4.dat

C:\Documents and Settings\Dana\Local Settings\Temp\_A00F174E2F.exe

Then hit Submit
The scan will take a while before the result comes up so please be patient.
Then copy the result and post it here in this thread.

If Jotti's service load is too high, you can use the following scanner instead:
http://www.virustotal.com/xhtml/index_en.html

Yes I do. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

I tried the first step of copy/paste the two files into both upload web sites. When I hit submit, this it the message I received:

"The file you uploaded is 0 bytes. It is very likely a firewall or a piece of malware is prohibiting you from uploading this file"

I didn't try to perform the next step because I wasn't sure if I should. What should I attempt next?

Thanks much for your help!!!

p.s. I decided to also try your next step to do the Malwarebytes scan of my system. I'll post the results when the scan is complete. Hope this is ok...

The message you received is enough for me to go on.
I am not surprised at the message at all. ;)

Please continue with my instructions and post the logs.

Hello again. Glad to hear it was ok to continue with the next step. Once the scan was complete, I attempted to romove all checked files. I received a message telling me some could only be removed once the computer was restarted. I hit "yes" to continue the restart process. Once restarted, I've attached the log you request below. Please let me know if this helps you and thanks again...

Download and install CCleaner from here

If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for Cookies is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla.

  • Set Cookie Retention.
Click on the Options block on the left, then choose Cookies.
Under the Cookies to delete pane, highlight any cookies you would like to retain permanently (those companies or sites with which you regularly visit or do business), and click the right arrow > to move them to the Cookies to keep pane.

Re: TROJ_AGENT.ANMX Invasion - Please help!

Unread postby Magicrub » August 31st, 2008, 6:00 pm

Hello again,

I ran through your instructions. During the first step, I didn't find the following file:

"O24 - Desktop Component 0: (no name) - http://www.freshfolder.com/img/thumb/20051.jpg"

But I did find the other two O2... and O18... so I did ensure to select them before running HJT in "scan only mode".

I also ran through the CCleaner steps. After the Kaspersky scan, 9 threats were found along with 15 infected objects. I didn't see an optoins to clean these threats/infections so I haven't done anything more. Here's the log information:

System Status:

I'm not getting the crazy popups like before. My system seems to be running better, maybe still a little slow. I'm very happy with the progress so far, but the listed threats/infections still worry me a bit. Please let me know how I should proceed.

Thanks again for all your help!!!!

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

  • Restart your computer in safe mode:

Heres how if you don't know .
  • During startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum .

Reboot Normally

Hello,

I followed your suggested steps. I attached the three files you requested, instead of posting all text in my reply. I hope this works just as good. If not, please let me know.

Please let me know if the 9 threats and 15 infected objects mentioned previously are now clean. Or let me know what my next steps should be.

Thanks again for all your help. My computer seems to be running better. Time will tell...

IMPORTANT I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Peer to Peer) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

From the Policy wrote:Because of this, we felt we needed to change our policy on the use of P2P file sharing programs.

* If your helper detects the presence of such programs on your computer he/she will ask you to remove them. We will withdraw our help should you not agree to their removal.

I'd like you to read the MRU policy for P2P Programs.

Submit a file to Jotti
Please go here : http://virusscan.jotti.org/
On top of the page there is a field to add the filepath, copy and paste this filepath in there.
If theres is more than one file to scan, insert them 1 at a time.

C:\WINDOWS\002731_.tmp

Then hit Submit
The scan will take a while before the result comes up so please be patient.
Then copy the result and post it here in this thread.

You may recieve a message stating "
"The file you uploaded is 0 bytes. It is very likely a firewall or a piece of malware is prohibiting you from uploading this file"

Just let me know if that is what you saw.

If Jotti's service load is too high, you can use the following scanner instead:

Due to lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
