Hanging Applications & Frozen Desktop (Very Frequent!)

Unread postby Danno231 » August 2nd, 2008, 9:47 pm

I have been experiencing a number of crashes - outlook and ie explorer hang extremely frequently. USB jacks are not performing, loss of external keyboard and mouse

In addition, I currently use Ad Aware 2008 and SuperAntiSpyware Professional. They've identified one MRU Object and one MRU Registry Key was noted: S-1-5-21-143359720-1012682146-1244796221-10665\software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Typed URLs\ Count: 7

During the same search, I noted the following tracking cookies: atdnt, apmeb, ads.bridgetrack, revsci, questionmarket, and clickit. All of which referenced my e-mail address.

I've removed all tracking cookies and the noted MRU Object and it has returned twice.

Below is my HiJackThis log.
Please let me know what steps I should take to eliminate all malware and MRUs on my system.

Thanks for the help!

It seems from some of the entries in your HJT log that your computer is a business machine.
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = BREProperties.com
O17 - HKLM\Software\..\Telephony: DomainName = BREProperties.com
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = BREProperties.com
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = BREProperties.com
O17 - HKLM\System\CS3\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = BREProperties.com

Points to a computer that is part of a domain BREProperties. There are also other entries that indicates that this is a business mashine.

Have you read our guidelines on such machines?

Thank you and I understand. I've been in contact extensively with my IT group and they have had no success in resolving the issue. I cannot afford to give up my computer to them to work on for extended periods of time and was hoping to resolve independently. I located the iWin program on my system and I think this may have been the culprit.

When I run Spyware Professional, it identifies "getramsize.exe" as a trojan. I haven't been able to identify any references on line to this item. Any ideas or suggestions? Without a full walk through of what to do?

Thanks in advance!

We had a break in in our apartment and that is why I have not been back with you until now.

I can not see anything in the HijackThis log that gives a clear indication of what is going on. I do not dare to run anything else because I can do more damage that way because it is a business computer and it is too easy to break something by mistake.

Really the only thing that I can recommend is that you let the IT department reformat the computer and set it up the way your work needs it set up.

Sorry that I can help you no more than this but I would be risking doing more damage than good and that is not something I want to do.

Regards

As attempting to remove malware from a business machine falls outside the scope of this forum, this topic is now closed.
