Malware on my computer, Denied access to C drive need help!

Unread postby ungkuiskandar » July 29th, 2008, 8:28 am

Hello,

I have recently made the dumbest move in my life, i went on the internet searching for a new program which is uniblueregistry to remove any malware, adware in my computer since its been kinda sluggish for quite sometime. I downloaded it from a dodgy website and installed it on my computer. Thats when all the problem starts.

After the installation, my windows clock panel on the bottom right has this VIRUS ALERT! sign next to the clock. Also, there is a pop up appearing every few minutes that says my computer has been infected with a virus. Also i cant access my HDD and when i try to access the task manager it says its been denied by the administrator. I did some research online and i found that it could be some malware that acts like administrator on my computer.

So i did the HJT scan, and if any of u could help, that will be great

Hi ungkuiskandar

IMPORTANT I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Peer to Peer) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

Ares

I'd like you to read the MRU policy for P2P Programs.

Please go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the programs listed above (in red).

Please run a new HJT scan when finished and post the log back here.

Hi Shaba,

Thanks for replying. I have read the p2p policy and understood it. However, i could not find the ares program at the add/remove application, which is weird, and also ive deleted some programs that i tought could be p2p, since i play online games, there are tools which i use to communicate using voice over ip , is that alright ?

Also, i have used ares in the past, but that is long ago, never used it in about 2 years now. I just dont know how to remove it with my current state of laptop but i can assure you once its done, i will try to remove it asap.

Here is my new HJT scan

Hi

Thanks for the info.

Let's do this next then:

To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.

You will now be presented with a screen similar to the one below:

Image

5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply.

Hi

Uninstall these:

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11
Java(TM) 6 Update 3

If you already have SDFix, please delete this copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.

  1. Please download SDFix by AndyManchesta and save it to your desktop.
  2. Double click on SDFix.exe. By default, it will install to C:\.
  3. Click on Install.

Please print out or save this set of instructions as you will not have internet access during the fix.

Next, boot into Safe Mode.

:!: Let me know if you can't boot into Safe Mode. Do not continue with the fixes.

  1. When you see BIOS screen, start pressing F8.
  2. A boot menu will appear shortly.
  3. Using the up down arrows, select Safe Mode and press the Enter key.
  4. Windows will now load.
  5. Log in to your usual account.
  6. Navigate to C:\SDfix (if you installed it to the default location, otherwise, locate where you installed it)
  7. Double click on RunThis.bat
  8. Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  9. It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  10. Press any key to reboot.
  11. When the PC restarts the tool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  12. Once the desktop icons load, the SDFix report will open on screen. You can also find the report in SDFix folder, named Report.txt.

Re: Malware on my computer, Denied access to C drive need help!

Unread postby Shaba » August 5th, 2008, 1:11 am

Great news :)

Log looks much better.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be found here: C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\log-date.txt
  • Please post contents of that file in your next reply.

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  1. Close all applications and windows.
  2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  3. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
  4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt to your post.
