Hi, I'm new to the forum and was wondering if you can help me. It seems that my computer has got infected with malware and I keep getting pop ups of sites and in some sites it just waits for a reply forever and doesn't seem to be doing anything. Some sites include many email sites like hotmail or gmail or yahoo. Also I can't use the google search engine because it looks like its broken too. I ran a scan on spybot and a trojan kept reappearing but it was never erased. It was called virtumonde. If you could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it. Here is my HJT log:

Hi zero627

  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Here's my HJT file. Some new problems occured. When I get to sites I am able to go on and if there are some thumbnails, pop ups fill those pictures with your computer is infected it needs to be scan with a red flashing box. Also, pop ups try to pop up but my spyware doctor notifies me and I block it. Also, I notice that when I am on certain sites with videos waiting to load, it takes forever and on the bar where it says waiting for reply it seems like its connecting to another site like adserver or something and it takes forever so I just refresh the site. I'm not sure if that was normal. I can't even go to this site on the computer that is broken so I have to send my files to another computer and use that computer to post on the forum.

Re: Need help getting rid of malware and other stuff

Unread postby Shaba » July 19th, 2008, 4:24 am

Hi

1. Download combofix from any of these links and save it to Desktop:
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you (C:\ComboFix.txt). Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected.
If it does, open Task Manager then Processes tab (press ctrl, alt and del at the same time) and end any processes of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue.
If that happened we want to know, and also what process you had to end.

If you have problems with Combofix usage, see here

Post:

- a fresh HijackThis log
- combofix report

A word of warning: Please do not run ComboFix on your own. This tool is not a toy and not for everyday use.

When my computer started back up I got an error message that says "Error loading C:WINDOWS\system32\bbgpuybw.dll The specified module could not be found." I am able to look at sites now. Thanks! I'm not sure if everything is fixed so I'll just trust your word. Here's the logs:

Hi

Thanks for the info.

Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the codebox below into it:

Code: Select all
File::
C:\WINDOWS\BM53d6c36c.xml

Folder::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\olixds01
C:\Temp\stmpv4

Registry::
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"Ocgaageq"=-

Save this as "CFScript"

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

Image

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log.

Hi

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

  1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  3. When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  4. Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  5. Click on My Computer under Scan.
  6. Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  7. You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  8. Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  9. Please post this log in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Hi

It looks pretty obvious why you got infected:

E:\AppBackup\ate\WinRAR v3.71 Professional\winrar371pro.exe Infected: Trojan.Win32.Monder.ahw 1
E:\ate\WinRAR v3.71 Professional\winrar371pro.exe Infected: Trojan.Win32.Monder.ahw 1

Downloading pirated software is not only illegal but also very stupid as you can see.

E:\World of Warcraft\WoW-2.0.10.6448-to-2.0.12.6546-enUS-downloader.exe Infected: Trojan-GameThief.Win32.WOW.bki 1
E:\World of Warcraft\WoW-2.1.0.6692-to-2.1.0.6729-enUS-downloader.exe Infected: Trojan-GameThief.Win32.WOW.blp 1

I also recommend to change passwords etc. for WoW due to those files.

Empty this folder:

C:\QooBox\Quarantine

Delete these:

E:\AppBackup\ate\WinRAR v3.71 Professional
E:\ate\WinRAR v3.71 Professional
E:\AppBackup\World of Warcraft\WoW-2.0.10.6448-to-2.0.12.6546-enUS-downloader.exe
E:\AppBackup\World of Warcraft\WoW-2.1.0.6692-to-2.1.0.6729-enUS-downloader.exe
E:\World of Warcraft\WoW-2.0.10.6448-to-2.0.12.6546-enUS-downloader.exe
E:\World of Warcraft\WoW-2.1.0.6692-to-2.1.0.6729-enUS-downloader.exe

Empty Recycle Bin.

Still problems?

The only problem I'm experiencing is that sometimes my internet disconnects at random times, mostly while videos are being watched and it is still uploading. It only affects this computer but the other computers are able to connect to the internet wirelessly and don't experience any problems disconnecting. I'm not sure if it has anything due to malware or not but if you have more information I'd appreciate it.

I didn't know that the downloader from blizzard could be a trojan. The winrar I thought was free to get. Thanks for all the help! I really appreciate it!

Hi

Those sounds like wireless problems and not malware problems.

I can redirect you to some windows forum, is it OK?
