Two Issues - ICS not able to activate and Intrusion

Unread postby littlefrog » October 24th, 2005, 6:01 pm

Hi - hope you can help. I have two pcs and installed the following on them. Network adapter card on older pc and then a crossover cable between both. They see each other and share files and printer, but not internet connection. When I try to enable ICS newer pc says can't start Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing. I disabled Windows Firewall due to the fact I had Norton Firewall and was getting a conflict with the two running. Cannot now re-enable Windows Firewall as it appears to have vanished completely. I have Windows XP plus SP2 installed on both pcs.

I also keep getting the following intrusion detections - MS RPCSS, MS ANSI Integer Overflow TCP and MS RPC LSASS DS oversize request. Know that this means Norton is working, but this didn't start until I had connected the crossover cable.

Hope you can help with this matter as it is driving me up the wall - doing a LAN should have been relatively easy. Help

p.s. also meant to say my DVD/RW appears to have disappeared from the system

I'm sorry you have not had a reply to your query. This is likely because this forum is geared toward the removal of malware, and your problem does not appear to stem from that.

I suggest you may want to try one of the following forums, all of which have areas for issues other than malware...

http://pcpitstop.ibforums.com/

http://forums.spywareinfo.com/

http://forums.tomcoyote.org/

This topic is now closed; however, if you should later decide that your problem is malware related, please feel free to return here, start a new topic, and post your HijackThis log here in this forum. In that event, we ask that you please read the announcement topic at the top of the forum before posting...
