Let me look into it a bit. I do not want you to uninstall your anti virus program. That just would be the smart thing to do.

But to be sure. If you restarted the machine the resident shield would get turned back on. I'm sure you realize this but have to ask.

The system is generally running much faster, particularly when logging on and off which we do as different logins for members of the family, as it was sometimes taking a very long time 'saving your settings'. Now is much quicker. The pop up advertising has gone which is great. We are still getting the occasional crash (blue screen with a lot of tech information which means nothing to me) when logging out one user and logging in another - all that can be done is manual switch off and reboot when that happens.

Thanks

Re: I have been hit by cpmsky. Cann you help me fix it?

Unread postby Bob4 » June 18th, 2008, 7:16 am

Well your logs seem to be free of Malware. As far as the blue screen crashed (BSOD) are concerned I will recommend another forum more suited to that sort of repair.

But first lets do a something to clean up what we have done.

Go to start > run and copy and paste this in the field:

ComboFix /u

Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /
Then hit enter.

This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, reset your clock settings, hide file extensions, hide the
system/hidden files and resets System Restore again.

Download and Install a HOSTS File
A Hosts file is a plain text file which prevents your computer from connecting to malware and spyware sites by redirecting the connection request to 127.0.0.1, which is your local address. If you use a proxy server, or if you are on AOL, be sure to read the special instructions.
You can download the MVPS Hosts File and see a HOSTS file tutorial here :
This website also contains useful tips, and links to other resources and utilities.

Here's a site with great advise on how to AVOID malware. Much easier to do than removing it.

You can go to this site and register as you have done here and post your user switching problem with as much detail as you can.
